I'll bring this topic up again, as it seems to be impossible to search the archives, the way it is now.
The "older" version had a great seach feature, where you could find articles in past issues.
This doesn't seem to possible now, in this "newer" version.
Am I missing something, or is that just the way it's going to be???
I thought we were "promised" that a search feature was "coming soon".

It appears that the only two reliable coming soon items are taxes and death.
I have to agree with you.
Almost NOT worth having the archives if it can't be searched, what good is it?
I believe there is at least one third-party 'index' that still works with the archive files.
I'm still waiting for the stage-three Forum revitalization we were promised... how many springs ago? I've lost count...
I'd like to see someone from Kalmbach actually provide an answer to this very specific question, even if it's just an excuse about why they can't or won't.
I sent an email to CS, but I'am sure email will be obsolete before I get a reply.
This works pretty well.

An index for the magazine is not an index for the forum.
You can use google and search site: cs.trains.com XXXXX where XXXXX is whatever you are looking for.
I've mentioned before I belong to a paid site that hasn't updated in 15 years. It's been a nightmare for the owner and the participants to upgrade that forum.
Beyond my paygrade, but standards of what you present on the Web have changed.
Probably it would be cheaper and quicker to develop new forum software from scratch. That would mean a loss of our history, but a forum that works, would be better than the current situation, where historical posts cannot be found.

I'll have to check that out Jim.
It used to be easy. hahaha, so much for that!
Soo Line fanThis works pretty well.
I had a chance to try this earlier this morning, and it does help, and finds articles, BUT I'm not letting MR off the hook on this!
Shouldn't have to use a 3rd party web site to find articles in the MR archives!
By the way, using this site, you still need to be a subscriber to the archives in order to open up the issue and find the article.
Please fix this!
I actually got a reply this morning, from the MR "Capt. Obvious Dept."
Thank you for contacting Model Railroader Magazine. Unfortunately, we do not have a search bar within the magazine archive. We appreciate this suggestion and will pass it along to the appropriate department for further review.
Thank you for the link. It worked for me and any help is better than whar MR provides. Kalmbach must be bent on self-destruction.
Agreed it ought to be easier. Same for searching the site.
