Small Worlds Tokyo has been open since June 2020. I have never been there and have no intention of going there. I'm content with just watching the few videos that have been posted. 587
In April 2018, I learned of plans to create a miniature park in Toronto called "Our Home & Miniature Land" or "Little Canada." I wonder what it is like now. 321
I did see the exhibition several years ago when it was in Manhattan. I enjoyed it, but it was not yet complete and ran into financial difficulties with a large rental cost for its location. My guess is that is was very expensive to continue running, and needed a less expensive venue.
I am glad to see it get a second chance.
The continents were each built independently overseas. Each one has a simple HO scale looping railroad with an appropriate paint job going around it. As far as I know, the continents are not connected by rail behind the scenes.
One thing bothered me when I visited. A few of the "international" railways had either a Rio Grande or Canadian National boxcar on them. I finally made contact with the "train guy" who explained that they were Walthers track cleaning cars, but hadn't been re-badged yet. He then gave me a personal tour, which we both enjoyed immensely.
They had a large 3D printing operation for their own models. I believe they did all their own aircraft.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
This is the first I have heard anything about them possibly saving it.
A pessimist sees a dark tunnel
An optimist sees the light at the end of the tunnel
A realist sees a frieght train
An engineer sees three idiots standing on the tracks stairing blankly in space
Gulliver's Gate was a 1/87 miniature park that opened in May 2017 in Manhattan, New York. Model manufacturers Walthers and Faller were among the sponsors. The selling point was that they would create a figure by 3D scanning applicants and display it in the diorama. Closed in January 2020. Today, when I visited the old official website, it was replaced with a new address. It was written that it would be opened on Staten Island under the name of Miniature World. Does anyone know anything?
