I want to create decal artwork for HO vehicles.  My word processor can do straight lines in a variety of fonts.  How do do more complex lettering?  An arc or circle for instance.  Free software?

I do all of my artwork in Adobe Illustrator. This is a vector based software the same as Autocad and Corel Draw. Inkscape is a free software and has a lot of online tutorials on Youtube.

Hello All,

Although not free by any means, I use Canvas X Draw.

It is available for both Mac & Windows (I have a Mac).

You can purchase a yearly subscription or buy it outright for a single price.

I went with the one-time purchase.

That is how I made my avatar/herald.

Hope this helps.

I actually have an old greeting card program called Printmaster that I use to create my decal designs.  This program allows you to import images, stack images, draw lines, rectangles, circles, ovals, etc., and can provide object outlines and solid color fills.  It also offers lots of fonts and text effects that come in very handy.  I also use this program to create business signs and even building interiors for my commercial structures.  Any similar software should work for you.

There's a website called Canva that offers a lot of publishing options similar to Adobe products, all online and mostly free options
