Hi WPA.  Speedybee is correct that the width dimension is to the outside of the sidewalk.

Exactly one minute into this video you will see the orange dimension schematic.  The bottom left hand corner is rounded like the sidewalk as the building is not.  Not much to the rest of the video, but at least that part answers your question.

Hope that helps ya out.

I don't have the kit but it probably includes the sidewalk.

I was looking at these on the Walthers website the other day. As you've noticed, they don't provide a footprint for the merchants row 1. But they do provide a footprint for the merchants row 2, and it shows that the 3.5" width includes the sidewalk, and it'd make sense for the merchants row 1 to match the merchants row 2.

Hopefully someone who actually owns it can confirm.

edit: the plot thickens in that, for the HO scale versions of the same buildings, the row 1 is has a 5" depth footprint including the sidewalk and row 2 has a 5 13/16" depth footprint including the sidewalk. So now I have no idea what's going on Hmm

Can anyone provide the building width for Cornerstone N scale merchants row I (one with 5 buildings). The dimensions are given as 3.5 inches wide but I don't know if that includes the sidewalk width or is the building width without sidewalk.  Thanks.
