This time for the ACF 4600 Covered hopper anyone own any if so what do you think of them i might buy one.
Some of them have assembly QA/QC issues. I had three that did not look good. They took them back and gave me a full refund including shipping costs, so they stand behind their product. They were very understanding of my complaints.
The assembly QA/QC was bad enough that Arrowhead is switching production of the rest of these covered hoppers to another factory. They were already into the switch when the yellow CNW hoppers came in (late) from the manufacturer in China.
Some people report getting amazing CNW hoppers that they were very happy with, and a few folks like myself, just were not.
At least they really do stand behind their product.
I owned 10 of the PRR/DRGW H39 hoppers and they were fantastic. They held up just fine on the layout. Stuff did not fall off (I sold them off and got out of HO freight trains into mostly passenger equipment with one reefer train).
