Good morning from cloudy and cold Northeast Ohio!
I managed to complete a couple of projects and am working on others!
First up, another PRR Cabin Car, brass cabin car by Precision Scale Models. Painted with Scalecoat PRR Freight Car Red and Black Paints, then lettered with K4 Decals. This is a Class N5a Cabin Car, it and 3 others were made from Class N5 by installing a Duryea Cushioned underframe to see how it worked on a Cabin Car.
Second is a Red Caboose, R70-15 Mechanical Refridgerator Car, added Yarmouth Sill Steps in place of the fragile plastic ones of the kit. Painted with Scalecoat II ATSF Red and White paints, then lettered with Oddballs Decals. Car was used to haul produce from Texas and Missouri to other locations in the US. Note the BKTY reporting marks, the Katy was not in good financial condition and the SP financed a number of cars for the Katy and all those cars were notated with BTKY reporting marks. They also followed the car specs for the SP.
A pair of Bowser Pennsy RS-3's with a coal drag running on the Strongsville Club Layout.
Thanks for looking!
Thanks for opening, Rick, and great work! That Pensy cabin car captures the visually busy look of the PRRs locos and caboo, uh, cabin cars. I like the little bits of history you add with your builds.
Welp, first up: Sometimes you have to take steps backwards before you can move foreward.
I have made myself accept the fact that If I ever do get to that very time consuming Dean's Marine ship who's hull has been occupying my dock scene forever, it won't be in time to satisfy my desire to get this harbor scene done.
I took the white ghost ship hull out, and filled in the hole back in. It will be much easier, faster, and make more sense to build a chip hauling barge. Not pretty fo now but opens the way for visible progress.
I'll smooth in that surface and get some water effects on it, place the barge on top of it.
Second: Under this here mountain...
...is this here staging track, 3 wide. They are sectioned electrically about where that little jag is in the sky backdrop.
I finally found an easy to use babycam to put in there so I can see where the trains are in staging, to replace the flexy engine probe camera that died on me a while back.
It's working off the camera's IR lighting for now, thus in black and white, but whenever I get ambitious enough to put adequate lights in there, it will be in color.
OH, that was a bear to install and finally get positioned! You can see the top rear of 2 cabeese, in front of that locomotive. That tells me those tracks are occupied if I forget to note it on the control panel.
No more guessing where the trains are, or worse, accidental couplings. Staging capacity is back up to 6 trains of about 15 cars each, doubleheaded.
Let's see what ya got! Dan
Rick: Thanks for opening the weekly WPF thread. Your PRR cabin car is wonderful. How do you like K4 decals? I have used them twice and been very happy with them.
Dan: I like the ides of using a baby-cam in staging. It sure would be simple to install.
It looks like Mrs. Peterson's dragon is trying to break through the wall... again. When this thing gets old enough to fly, the neighborhood is going to have some real problems.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Living the dream.
Rick. Thanks for starting WPF. The cabin car looks amazing (like all your work).
Dan. Great idea using a babycam.
Kevin. Ask Mrs Peterson to get a cage for the dragon - quick.
Myself. I haven't done much on the layout because of preparing for Christmas.
What with storing everyones presents, the place is a huge toy factory.
Also I am waiting for some new railway wagons to arrive, but our postal staff are on strike. So no idea when they will arrive.

A view from the control area. In the distance is a Castleford to Leeds Central local train. Not that it can be seen properly; it is knowing it is there.

Thanks for hosting WPF Rick. Might have called the Pennsy cabin car a caboose last week Always have enjoyed your car craft here
If the barge-water scene turns out as well as the chip reserve, it'll look great Dan. Sure like the ore and flat car scene. Cool set up with the removable mountain staging and camera.
Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the.....Mrs Peterson's yard Seem to remember you saying your wife brings you home plastic figurines sometimes Kevin. Is that one of them?
The old layout pics are just as good as any David. Always loved the rusty boneyard scene and like that close up photo.

Another pair of beer reefers.
Dan
Rick, Thanks for the WPF opening, your fine models are testament to fine skills and perseverance.
Dan, A barge can be an interesting model, even if not quite as dazzling as a ship. And the extra harbor space can be home to all sorts of fascinating maritime details and water craft. Just thinking about the possibilities is fun. Maybe a tug?
Thanks to all the contributors and viewers. Have a good weekend. Regards, Peter
Track fiddlerSeem to remember you saying your wife brings you home plastic figurines sometimes Kevin. Is that one of them?
Yes it is. Just a cheap little plastic dragon toy, but it makes for a great photo-prop for some whimsy.
RAMAX!!, remember that company from times past. I bought several of their ACF hoppers as GN had a fair fleet of them. They are fairly easy to assemble as long as one follows their instructions. I still have a few to assemble. The kit requires weight, trucks and painting. I used Herald King decals, Athearn Timken trucks with Kadee 36" wheelsets.
Don; Prez, CEO or whatever of the Wishram, Oregon and Western RR
And - - - - - here is my other RAMAX puppy, decaled with Herald King decals (miss that company) and equipped with Athearn trucks w/ Kadee 36' wheelsets.
No pics this week since all i did was a little more work on a MDC little big hustler. the cattle cars have to hav new holes drilled for the trucks in the car body since the inserts are long lost from previous owners. so a little rod fixed that just waiting for adhiesive to dry a gap filler AC glue. And of course after much testing , took the whitconmbs apart for testing. I am mighty impressed with how they engineered all that to fit under the hood. with so much metal parts to boot.

Lots of fun pictures this week everyone.
This week I decided it was time to change the period of the layout to the present and remove all of the locomotives and cars from 1954 and move up to the 2010's.
Here is the wayfreigth heading west pulled by a Wisconsin Souther Geep.
Here is an Amtrak train rerouted down the secondary main because of derailment.
With all of the period locomtives and cars off the layout, I thought it would be a good time to do some detailing.
Here is a stack of Cal-Scale and Cary parts waiting to be applied. Marker lights, vents, e-unit truck side frames and many others. Should keep me busy for weeks.
Thanks to everyone.
