Hi
I am searching old issues of Model Railroader for "Ask Paint Shop" articles. Does anyone know the years this column was published?
Thanks, ModelT
I think the articles were called "Paint Shop". "Ask Paint Shop" were sort of questions sent in to that particular column, if I remember correctly.
At one time there was an index to all the model railroad magazines and it would have been fairly easy to answer your question. Unfortunately that index was taken over by our hosts, and like all good things was made to disappear.
Seems to me that the Paint Shop articles were a monthly happening in the magazine. If I had to guess, I think that was in the mid 1970 to mid 1980 era. But that's just guessing.
Wish I could give you a more definitive answer.
Regards

Paint Shop, and the sub-column Ask Paint Shop were two of my monthly favorites, and added a lot to my formative years as a model railroader.
I started reading Model Railroader in the late 1970s, and it was there. It disappeared in the early 2000s. I seem to remember it becoming less-than-monthly before it ended altogether.

Be aware of the fact that many of those articles featured paint no longer available, like solvent based Floquil. Plenty of good advice on alternatives to be found here on the forum.

Hi Model T.
Unfortunately APS disappeared after 2001. But, as stated, there is plenty of good advice, usable advice here on this forum. That's regardless if you prefer: Airbrushing, Paintbrushing, Rattlecanning, or a combo .
Can you share with us, what areas of painting or weathering you're targeting?
