In the mid-1970s I was fireman on the Cuyahoga Valley Line's USRA 2-8-2 and our train passed by the Harshaw plant on Harvard Road in Old Brooklyn twice a day on weekends. I used to like seeing the old buildings and equipment and the name just stuck with me all these years.

I'm just catching up on this month's Show Me Something so this is way out of order as to page. Your mention of Harshaw Chemical hit me instantly. My late father worked for them as a salesman! Talk about an arcane name out of the past!
Did you assign the name to the building by just picking it out of the air or do you have a remembrance of the actual company? My dad worked Ohio and Michigan for them in the late 50s. Always bringing home items interesting to a young lad.

I own one electric, a Pemco Pennsy GG-1 which was a gift from my sister about 35 years ago. At the time, I was modeling the UP so this didn't fit at all but whenever she would visit, I would bring it out and run it for her, not having the heart to tell her why it didn't belong on the layout. For most of the past 35 years, it has remained boxed up. Even though my current layout is set in the east and the Pennsy has trackage rights, it didn't make sense to string up caternary for one loco. I had forgotten I even had it until I came across a storage box a few months ago.
Here is the GG-1 with the raised pantograph but no catenary. All dressed up with no place to go.
Let's stay with the electric loco request, either 3rd rail or overhead.

Here's a diesel-electric/electric on the left (FL9) and an electric/electric (EP-5) on the right. The EP-5 can run on straight 660V DC third rail or 11,000 AC from the overhead.

When Randy and I were building the portable N scale layout for Scale Rails Of Southwest Florida back in 1992, N scale backdrops were hard to find. We used the HO scale Walthers backdrops instead.
Through experimentation, we found it looked better if smaller buildings were placed near the backdrop, and the HO scale buildings just towered over them.

I found a picture of this coliseum on the internet, enlarged it, Photo Shopped the marguee, printed it in three sections, and mounted it on Gatorfoam to give it some depth. I'm really happy how it turned out.
The photo isn't quite sharp enough to read the marquee but the coming attractions are the Harlem Globetrotters and Bill Haley and the Comets. Perfect for my 1956 time period.
I had considered scratchbuilding an indoor arena but even a minimum sized arena would have eaten up far to much real estate so I made this to be a background structure.

The majority of the railroads in the United States call the car at the end of their trains a caboose. Other common names are hacks, crummies, vans, cabin cars, or shacks. But why did the Burlington call theirs a waycar? It is believed that the term originated around the turn of the century [1900], coming from older passenger cars that had been converted for use as "Way Freight Rider Cars" or "Way Freight Cabooses." Because of it's length, the term was shortened to a single word, "Waycar." The term caught on with the employees of the Burlington, and from that time forward, the Burlington cabooses have been proudly known as waycars.
If Garry were still with us he could explain the CB&Q's use of waycar better than I could. I hear in some circles the C&NW and Santa Fe* used the term, too, but this may have been local vernacular.

That load was included with the car when I bought it. There are two different sized tires and there are separate molded plastic sheets for each size. If I remember right, there are three layers for each size.

A string of empty 2-bay hoppers lettered for my home road. They have just replenished the coaling tower at the main engine terminal and are read to be picked up by the empty coal train to be taken back to the coal mines.
