Accurail MR&T 2 Bay Hopper
Posted by Fergmiester on Sunday, November 20, 2022 9:43 AM

WoW! covers it nicely! I'm a fan of Accurail, though their cars don't have the multitude of hand applied parts you see on some of the other manufacturers offerings, they offer a very good product that is pleasing to the eye. I have a consideable number (well over 100) of Two bay hoppers by both Accurail and Athearn and I am more than satisfied with them.

So when I ordered the MR&T Hopper I was expecting the standard Accurail offering but what I got was a lot more as this kit seems to be a vastly improved version of their standard, as the assembly has been upgraded to make it appear more prototypical but is still straightforward and simple to assemble.

Well done and Thank You!

Fergus

I think I only have three Accurail freight cars.

The first one I assembled was a 40 foot gondola, and I was impressed with it.

Good to hear of a manufacturer going the "other" direction for once, adding quality instead of removing it. Unless of course you got twice the previous quality but paid thrice the old price.

Returning to model railroading after 40 years and taking unconscionable liberties with the SP&S, Northern Pacific and Great Northern roads in the '40s and '50s.

I have lots of Accurail box cars for the Milwaukee Road.  I bring a spreadsheet of road numbers I already have to train shows to avoid duplication, and always find a new number from the Accurail guy.

As I build them up, they get Kadees and Intermountain wheelsets.
