Best bet on IHC is to find old IHC cars on ebay and salvage the trucks from them. They were kind of their own thing when it came to mounting them, a split kingpin IIRC, so would be easier to swap in new trucks if you stuck with the same.

It's been a long time since Athearn made passenger cars, so those will be specifically hard to find. Might look into some of the old MDC offerings (which Athearn now owns) or consider other offerings. They mount easily with a screw, so won't be hard to match that.

Athearn website Parts area shows passenge car trucks either in stock or expected in March, depends on which type you need (heavyweight or streamline, black or silver, etc.) However you probably could buy an old Athearn kit at a model railroad flea market for less than the cost of buying them (and shipping them) from Athearn.

Like most things parts are scarce now as manufactures look to real in costs so old parts get axed.      At e look I. The 3D real.   Shapeways, thingiverse, or Mimi of actors and see what turns up

Then this depends on whether the truck price is for something that is unobtanium or not. If you can't get the item at the listed price, then looking for the cheapest ol junky car, so long as the trucks are good, becaomes a more viable option.

Walthers is about the only reliable source for passenger car trucks now, and some have been dicontinued.

I should have invested in Central Valley passenger car trucks instead of Apple stock.

Toy Train Heaven (part of English's Model Railroad Supply) often has passenger car trucks in their on-line sales, although in most instances, they're not Athearn trucks.

You don't necesarily need Athearn trucks under Athearn passenger cars, and some of the more recent offerings (mostly from Walthers) might be just as affordable, but also more prototypical-looking, too.

I've found lots of very useful (and affordable) items from Toy Train Heaven, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
