Hello everyone. I got back home from Orlando about 90 minutes ago. The power to the whole neighborhood was out. I was expecting it to be off all night, but it came back about a half of an hour ago.
A few weeks ago I told about how my wife likes to go to Antique Stores and look around. While she is there, I kind of poke around and look for old Tyco train cars from my youth.
I found the WESTERN MARYLAND flat car with pipe culvert load today. It has been added to this tiny collection of mine.

Great looking flat car. I like it.
My layout can now be operated by 1,2 or three operators. New controllers are at Leeds Sovereign Street Station and Clarence Dock Yard.

Good morning from sunny and cool Northeast Ohio!
Kevin, thanks for starting us out, some Tyco cars can be made to match a prototype, I don't think that is one of them.
David, those look like scenes I have never seen on your railroad before, they look nice.
Managed to finish a couple of cars this week.
First is an Atlas PS 2003CF Covered Hopper Kit, painted with Scalecoat II ATSF Red paint and lettered with Tichy Decals. This car was a repaint with the Coast Guard scheme that was introduced in the 1970's. The car was in Argonite service from the LV at Perth Amboy, NJ to whatever factory used Argonite (Calcium Chloride relative) that was mostly found in Spain.
Next a Walther's PS 86' High Cube Boxcar kit, painted with a 80/20 Mixture of Scalecoat II Light and Dark Green paint, then lettered with Highball Graphics Decals. The DT&I purchased and or leased several hundred 86' High Cubes from Greenville, Thrall and Pullman Standard for hauling Auto Parts from Ford Stamping Plants to various final assembly plants. This car was assigned to the Chicago Stamping plant in Chicago Heights, IL.

Well, Kevin's pic reminded me of some oldies I bought at a shop in Sacramento just for nostalgia. I never had any of these particular ones in my youth, but the AHM box jogs the ol' memory.
The IHCs are probably from the 80s? They have UPC codes on the box ends.
The Rivarossi plow, I'd guess late 60s? with its sprung trucks with metal pizza cutters, horn hook couplers attached, working headlight, and weighing a crushing 1.5 oz. The tanker weighs 1.1 oz.
I don't think any of these would work on my code 70. But I kinda like 'em.
Finally, since I brought it up, This Matchb...um... S scale Mercedes 300 SE I found at an antique shop years ago, just like my favorite one as a young'n in the late 60s.

Clarence Dock and Sovereign Street are coming along beautifully, David. The look of the old buildings is wonderful!
Great looking rolling stock, Rick. Amazing just how fast those Hi-Cubes fell out of favor with the railroads and disappeared so quickly.

You have a beautifully preserved collection there, Dan. I used to love pawing through those blue and yellow AHM boxes. Even the old J.C. Penney store near me had a big selection of them in the toy department.
Well, I needed another locomotive like I need a [fill in the blank]! For years I would run my C&NW bi-level push-pulls using an old Proto 2000 E7. A while back Athearn made up some beautiful Genesis FP7s but I didn't think I really needed one at the time.

I scrounged around and found a few still in stock at Lombard Hobbies. Pretty decent price, too! This was my first time ordering from them and they did a great job!

During my visits to the Windy City I would try to ride out to Park Ridge on these trains and wanted to have a little token of those memories represented on the layout. The bi-level cars are Kato and even when pushed with the engine at the rear the eight-car train performs beautifully.

Meet 'Knightsbridge' my daughter's bear. Even my youngest grandson, Thomas loves him. When Thomas stays overnight he has Knightsbridge in bed with him.

Another of my daughter's bears is 'Hudson'. He was acquired when my daughter was in New York. Hudson has a dollar bill to pay anyone a 'tip'.

Both bears are now over 15 years of age.
Dawn has 'Lenny the Lion'. Lenny (along with 'Tony the Tiger') were a very great comfort to Dawn during the dark days of her life. (That's another story not to share.)

Kevin, Thanks for rolling out the WPF. Finding a tangible link to youthful days gone-by is somehow satisfying.
Talking about links to youth, I'm glad Dan pointed out the Lesney Matchbox vehicle upon Dave's layout. As a boy, spending two weeks allowance (50 cents) to buy a Matchbox vehicle at the local variety store was always a joyous event.

Well Fellas, here is my contribution this week; an Athearn bulkhead flat w/ wrapped wood load. These wood loads showed up at our club, Mt Hood Model Engineers so I grabbed a handfuel and made 'em into a proper looking load. It is removable.

Dan: Found the same snowplow about 4 years ago.
This week I have an update on a Bachman Mikado that I got about a month ago. It came in a UP scheme and I had to remove the Union Pacific on the tender and replace it with a C&NW logo the first day. I removed the rest of the UP marking and replaced with the approriate C&NW decals on the cab side and sand dome.
Put the large locomotive number on the back of the tender and added marker lights to the back of the tender.
Waiting for the bell and deck plate to arrive and will add a crew. Almost ready for the layout.

Kevin - Thanks for starting off WPF. Congrats on the great find. I have a wew cars from our original Tyco 1970's train that I treasure.
David - Good stuff. A peparture from you usual fare.
Rick - A couple of good looking cars. I particularly like the covered hopper though I would have preferred the CG scheme as a veteran of that sevice. The PSs are a handsom pair.
Bear - Another great cartoon. Thank you!
Dan - A group of interesting IHC cars. Love the plow. I don't think I've ever seen one like it.
Ed - We all get loco-itis on occasion. With only a 4X10 layout and 50+ locos, I have a bad case.
David - The animals can be a comfort for sure. One of my sisters has stuffed tiger that I gave her more than 50 years ago when she was layed up in a body cast for more than six months. "Tony" still has a prime place on her bed after all these years.
Peter - The boat hulk is great scene stealer.
Don - An effective, colorful car and load.
Bear - Another Bear Toon. I agree with your comment as well.
Rick - The sharks are impressive! The gons are as well.
Not much happening on the Black River Valley Railroad lately. I did get to run a few trains this past week. Exercising a few locos that have been idle too long.
BRVRR #1116 is the only 'home road' loco on the layout. An old MRC chassis and an Athearn shell custom painted years ago.
BRVRR caboose 1445 is one of the few 'home road' cars on the layout.
Keep the ideas and photos coming guys. Thanks to you wPF is always the best thread of the week.
