Broadway Limited 4-6-2 question
Posted by JDawg on Saturday, August 6, 2022 3:49 PM

Setting aside looks for a moment, what is the smallest radius a BLI 4-6-2 would navigate? The website states 18in is the minimum, but I have often found that if a locomotive will handle R18, it will also handle R15. I used to have a BLI 2-8-0 which also had a stated min radius of R18, but it negotiated R15 with no problems. My thought was that if 8 drivers could do it, then 6 could too? If anyone was willing to test my theory with their 4-6-2 I would greatly apreciate it.

I sold my BLI 4-6-2 in January, but when I first bought it and ran it on my old layout, it handled 24" and 22" radius curves with ease. So , I don't doubt that it could negotiate 18" radius curves. But, 15" radius curves? That may be asking too much. I will be interested in what others have to say.

I had a BLI Pacific and it did handle 18" radius fine but I too wonder about 15".
