GB&W HO scale decals for pre 1972 diesel paint scheme
Posted by greenbayfan on Monday, July 11, 2022 4:32 PM

Does anyone know how to acquire HO scale decals for Green Bay & Western diesels?  In particular, I am looking for the pre 1972 paint scheme horizontal gray band bordered by black lines at the top and bottom.

Thanks,

Jim

I'm not at all familiar with the decals you seek, but if you're competent enough to create the lettering and striping on your computer, you could forward the results to Circus City Decals...

mwelke@CircusDecals.com

...where they will turn your work into very nicely-done decals.

A good friend decided to do that procedure, and sent me some very nicely-done decals, which I put on a couple of reefers....

I'm not sure, but if you can submit some photos of the real trains to them, they may be able to do the work for you, (at a cost, of course).

All of my lettering for my home-road (freelanced names) was done by my brother, and included three sets of dry-transfer (rub-on) lettering from C-D-S (now long gone), and later, some very nice decals from Rail Graphics (also no longer around).

My brother's procedure was to enlarge each letter to almost full-screen size, in order to clean-up any anomalies, so the finished product was very crisp.

Here's some of the dry transfers made by C-D-S...

...and some of the C-D-S dry transfer lettering done by my brother...

...and Rail Graphics decals, with artwork also done by my brother...

These cars have decal lettering from Rail Graphics, with the lettering again done by my brother...

...and also in black...

The Rail Graphics decals were done to honour a friend and fellow model railroader who had passed away suddenly.

Wayne and Jim.

It looks like CircusCity already has a GBW decal set in HO that includes the striping for along the frame.

Thanks for that info, Scott.  That should take care of Jim's needs even better than having to do his own art work.
