Decal Paper & Printers
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, January 24, 2005 3:47 PM
"OK" all you tech wennies. I tried to make my own decals and sure "nuff" I ran
into a problem right from the get go.[:(] Problem is this, the printing from the printer comes out light, it looks to me like the ink is not adhering to the decal paper. My printer is a HP Deskjet 932C and the paper is Walthers Matte Finish decal paper and yes I test printed on paper first and the ink is just fine.Anybody
out there that knows what's the deal [?]

There's a thread on this very topic in the layout building forum that you may want to check out. "Making your own decals - anyone done this?" or words to that effect. I have an HP Photosmart that prints beautifully on any regular paper but the water based ink is useless for making decals, even with a clear overcoat. Also, the ink is designed to look good on white paper and most colors are therefore much too translucent for use in decal making, even if it was water friendly. Black or very dark colors might work, but the ink is not water resistant.

Good Luck,
smyers
