Neolube on Steam Drivers

I want to weather my BLI PRR L1s and I1sa, including particularly blackening the ends of the driver axles using Neolube.  I'm a little afraid that, Neolube being conductive, I might bridge the insulation on the drivers; this would definitely not be good.  Has anyone had any experience with this product on BLI drivers?

I tried using it on loco drivers and valve gear, but never had success with it drying and staying in place.  I found almost any kind of paint easier to use and more permanent, too.

I've not owned any BLI locos, so cannot offer an opinion on that.

I had planned to use paint but thought Neolube might adhere better.  I'll rely on your experience on that and avoid the conductivity vs insulation issue.  Thanks for your reply.

Blackening drivers, valve gear, and side rods on these BLI engines is unnecessary until you get to those shiny silver axle ends.  I do plan on using caseins, acrylics, and even powders to weather these engines to an "it was clean when it left the rouindhouse ... many miles ago" look.  I'll just hit those axle ends with flat black first.

Personally i find neolube gimmicky and not a great product. its not a paint, it doesnt stick well, and gets everywhere in the long run. Its also a pain to clean/remove. either paint youre rods or leave them shiny.
