Ed,
Thanks for the advice. I know that the Bilevel cars separlate at the window level but I don't think that the "Transition" car does.
I'm not sure if I completely understand but in nearly all the Walthers Proto passenger cars I have the roof can be pried off, sometimes quite a challenge I might add, but it eventually comes free.

I don't have any of their El-Cap cars but those "should" be the same way. Maybe not? Tha Amfleets do not, of course.
On further investigation I see the El-Cap cars separate below the window-line. So you want to cut this away? All I can suggest is careful, multiple passes with a good #11 ExaCTO BLADE.

Good Luck, Ed
I know that some on this forum are going to think that I am either nuts or a heretic. My next project is going to be to,basically, make a step up car, like the one for the Walthers El-Capitan / Superchief by removin the roof from one of those cars and putting it on a Walthers ATSF P-S 64-Seat Coach. What tool do you think would be the best to remove that roof? All suggestions are greatly appreciated! SDC
