From my days playing youth baseball I remember a number of fields that had a rail line running alongside of the baseball field. In most cases, it was beyond the outfield fence.

PS. It really does surprise me that apparently as yet, no one offers a set of baseball players in uniform in HO scale.

You could always model the rail line through the outfield of the Hackensack Bull's field in Brewster's Millions!

Hmmm.. 1/75 would give you the baseball equivalent  of the old Bears offensive line.

See Mel's method of preparing and painting figures -- I suspect you'll need a lining pen for the 'fine' details.  Note that printing 1- or 2-element ridges where 'lines' in the uniform design, or numbers, would be may simplify painting them.  Alternatively you might depress the lines and use an aircraft-modeler's panel pen to get paint into them.

Many watches have lacquer in the fine information detail etched or stamped into their movement plates.  The materials and techniques suitable for this might be applicable.

grandpa choochoo

my grandson plays travel ball and now wants a baseball field on my layout for his team.  After creating enough real estate to create the field I cannot find ho scale baseball players except for Woodland Scenics "sandlot" characters.  He is expecting players with his color shirts and numbers  LOL  Does anyone know a supplier.  We have a frield that just got a 3d printer and was thinking this might be an avenue to explore if there were people out there that do this?  Thanks for any help!

I am doing the same thing, creating a Little League baseball field but so far I have struck out trying to find HO scale baseball players. I have resigned myself to using the sandlot players from WS. The closest I could find are these Kaskey Kids but the players are 2" high, more than double what they would be in HO scale.

Amazon.com: Kaskey Kids Baseball Guys - Red/Blue Inspires Kids Imaginations with Endless Hours of Creative, Open-Ended Play – Includes 2 Teams & Accessories – 27 Pieces in Every Set! : Toys & Games

I also found these which would need a little painting but they don't give the size of the figurines. I suspect they are about the same as the Kaskey Kids since they are suitable as cake toppers.

Baseball Player Action Figure Guys - 70 pc Set - Mini Toy Figurines for Open Play, Dioramas, Cake Toppers and Party Decor - 3+ : Toys & Games (amazon.com)

If you can do better, I'd be very interested.

It is too much to hope for to find sets of baseball players but perhaps Preiser has a set titled "Men Spitting and Scratching Themselves."

Mentioned this in another thread, but may be building a slightly condensed version of Wrigley Field. Ultimately will need a resin printer to make the players and use pens to write numbers and logos. Resin has more detail but it's hard to work with.  You can use FDM printers to make people. I've done it, they look OK when viewed at least 12-16 inches away but not up close where you start seeing layers.

I found extremely detailed 3D people in sketchups 3D warehouse.  They were free which was great.  You can easily model in bats, gloves and hats and just download those separately and just add those components to the people.  I just clicked "export .stl" with no modifications and was impressed the slicer software developed a clean print model.

I was impressed when I scaled to 1:75 instead of 1:87 how much more detailed the people were.  If placed in the foreground but away from trains and vehicles, they did not look like giants.  I've always been inspired how Disney plays with perspective and scale to warp perceptions of scenes.  Maybe it will be OK to upscale this particular scene for more detail

Your friend who has the printer should be able to help. The models are on the 3D warehouse by searching "3D people"  There's whole crowds. They should also take just a few minutes to print

Do a Google search for Kramer metal figures baseball set. Apparently they are no longer available but you may get lucky on eBay.

   Welcome.

I have seen ball field (baseball, football, and soccer) on HO modules at shows. You can probably check Walther's catalog. I have some football players unpainted. You may have to paint and number them yourself.

    Good luck.
