Unfortunately my favorite Model Masters lusterless flat is no more and no it was not the same as Dullcoat but vary sililar (used both side by side). Now this could have been because of the spray nosle to some extent, don't know.

Those who follow the SeeYou190 principle (that was a heafty thread some months ago) may cause a slight run on their products over the next few days.  Hoarders, take note.

I am good. I currently have over 20 cans of spray can Dullcoat and 17 bottles of Dullcoat for airbrushing.

No more shortages will be caused by me!

Thanks, Guys.  The question was indeed prompted by running across word of the Testors 44% May price increase.  Perhaps not a biggie if you're only an occasional buyer, but for those who are heavy users of their products, it might be buy-up time.  Those who follow the SeeYou190 principle (that was a hefty thread some months ago) may cause a slight buyer's panic over the next few days.  Laugh  Bow

Assuming storage at room temp, how long should a new spray can of Dullcote provide expected results?

I am assuming you are talking about Testors #1260 Dullcoat.

Sometimes this is hard to find, so I have bought it in massive stock-ups whenever I find it in bulk. I store it in my non-temperature-controlled garage.

I have used some cans of Dullcoat that I know are over ten years old with no problem at all.

Basic Dullcoat Rules:

1) Shake the can A LOT. When you think it was shanken enough, shake it for another minute before you spray it.

2) Only use on days with low humidity.

3) Temperature should be between 65 and 90 degrees for best results.

4) Never spray a heavy coat onto a model. If a second coat is required, wait at least three days before the second coat.

5) If the final surface is cloudy, let it dry for a week and then spray on a second light coat. Most of the time the cloudiness will disappear.

I hope this helps.

I don't know the exact number but if you pick it up every so often and give it a good shaking that would certainly extend it's life span a bit. I have cans of it that are going on 4 and 5 years old and still work fine, but each gets a good shaking about once a month. Just heard that Testor's is raising their prices by 44% on May 1st.

Here's the question, folks: Assuming storage at room temp, how long should a new spray can of Dullcote provide expected results?
