Rick, Much appreciate the Scalecoat info. After reading your advice in an older post I'll be adding Scalecoat thinner to my paint order.
Oh, and David, looking forward to seeing those unique 'sidehacks' in your layout scenes.
Thanks and regards, Peter
Pruitt Thanks Scott! The only detail parts I added were the markers. Everything else is stock in the kit, including the ladders. The only thing I did was take some time to carve, file and sand off the flash. Then I painted those pieces black.

Thanks Mark. Forgot to say that I love the operating markers.
Hmmmm. The ladders in my kits didn't look like that. Must have been an earlier run or they did something different on the 3-pack that I got.
Scott
Lakeshore SubVery nice Mark. I have 3 of the same cabeese to dertail yet. I did some surgery on the frame so I could fit a pair of passenger trucks that many of the originals road on. Peter, I usallly thin Scalecoat II so it is the consistency of milk, so colors need a lot like white, but some don't need any like boxcar red. I also do not prime anything, just the finish coat. By the way nice modeling!
David, I manage to find my British Railways Mug my brother got for me when he was in England, below is a picture. Although I like the Scotch my son got for me when he was in Edinburgh a whole lot better.
Pruitt, nice work on that caboose looks good.
Lakeshore Sub, nice C&NW models, one of my club members is a fan of the Cheap and Nothing Wasted.
If I missed anyone, a lot of good pictures and ideas this weekend.

Pruitt Nice work, folks! I finally finished the waycar project I was working on for the last few weeks. Here it is lightly weathered: This is a Walthers four-window caboose kit they marketed in several variations 15-20 years ago. I finally got around to building it. I've got several more to do. I replaced the trucks with Kadee electrical pickup trucks, added Tomar LED Adlake markers, and drove them with an NCE Light It decoder. Here's what it looks like with the markers lit in subdued room lighting:

Again, great work.
I finished up 5 cars over the last two weeks. I did not have any ready for last week so I am added them this week.

dti406 I finished off a pair of Bowser PRRG39 Ore Jennies, this brings the fleet up to 40 cars now. Cars were assembled, painted with Scalecoat II Black paint and lettered with K4 Decals. Loads were from Dan Pikulski, you can find them on E-Bay. Rick Jesionowski

wow, I am famous now...my name got mentioned in a MR forum post. Thanks for the plug Rick and thanks for the business!!!
As a side note, the Bowser loads are currently out of stock awaiting a new mold to be poured.
Thanks for all the positive comments and compliments, folks
dti406Ed, is it supposed to have gold trucks?
Here's what's behind those gold trucks (and the whole underframe for that matter) Rick.
The doodlebug looked like this when I brought her home:
ERIE_Gas-electric-broadside by Edmund, on Flickr
The first thing I did was evaluate the running qualities on a DC test track then I installed a TCS keep alive decoder as a temporary trial. As long as the body was removed, and there was already a coat of clear varnish on the brass which I'm going to strip anyway I figured why not give 'er a dose of "Erie Coach Green" or a simulacrum thereof.
So, no, the trucks won't be gold very long but at least I'll be running the "Bride & Groom" set, the Stillwell will get its own shot of Krylon here in the next day or so.
This green is only temporary until I get the booth fired up and the Scalecoat Erie green loaded in the gun.

Kevin, Thanks for opening the WPF with a pleasing landscape scene.
Rick, Always enjoy and admire your work, especially those terrific paint and decal jobs. Pardon me if I've asked before, but how do you thin Scalecoat paint for airbrushing? Do you prime first, or shoot the color coat directly onto clean bare plastic. I need to stop dilly-dallying and give Scalecoat a try.
April is National Care Month, don't forget to check-out your ride.
Thanks to all the contributors and viewers. Have a good weekend. Regards, Peter
I've always loved WPF. This is my first post since 2019. Since then I packed up, sold all and moved.
Plan to have this part of project done by end of May ☺️

I made some progress on the chainsaw layout. I can't believe how relaxing it has been while working on this thing. I'm really glad to back into the hobby. The purpose of this layout not only to practice, but also to decide what type of brands/methods/etc I think I will enjoy using on the next layout. I tried a couple of types of track and landed on Peco, and have been very happy with it so far. Most of the turnouts are Unifrog #6 but I also used an insulfrog and an electrofrog #5 just to try them out as well. I have a bunch of feeder drops in place so I should be able to run a test train tomorrow.
Good stuff everyone!!!!
Haven't posted for a while so here it goes.
Working on an old Atlas GP-7 and turning it into a passenger geep complete with winterization hatch and torpedo air tanks.
Lately been running smaller mail trains as part of the operating schedule.

During the pandemic, I decided to add signals to my layout. There were shortages of just about everything I needed, so I put together a signalling system with what I had and what few items I could buy. Here's a youtube showing how it turned out. https://youtu.be/i0dmSteTyzg
I found an old Piker kit completely sealed. Now it purple. Because
Found these cast walls on bay from a guy who is making them. beautiful handmade pieces. I am going to use it as part of the cooperage for the 2 foot gauge line.
Speaking of which, here it is. The two wood buildings are from a little kit maker from ebay. nice easy kits too. all laser cut. The small stone one is one I found on bat as well. fits nicely. Lots to do like loading docks and details and such.
I hve been sickfor three weeks. missed two good good weekeends of modeling. now its warm and yard work needs to be done. lost those weekends. Might shelf the 2 foot project for the summer. not sure yet

Good afternoon all.
Kevin - Nice scenery. I like the company bridge.
Ed - Nice find on the Doodle and coach. Good progress on the layout too.
David - Nice additions. And everyone needs a proper mug.
Rich - Good job on those bumpers, I just recently snagged a package of those for my layout once it is ready for details like that.
Rick J - Great job with the freight cars. You always impress with the custom paint and decals.
I was gifted, a while ago, an old Mantua 4-6-2 Pacific. When I tested the current draw to consider converting to DCC, it was a bit higher than I was comfortable with. So, today I have installed a new can motor, and it is currently waiting for the adhesive (Silicone) mount to cure. But the bench test of the new motor was well within the current draw requirements to add in DCC.
Remotored Mantua 4-6-2 Pacific by Richard Woodworth, on Flickr
Once it is fully cured, wiring will begin. I plan on replacing the standard Mantua tender trucks with newer ones that I can wire for both rail pick-up, and then simply insulate the entire tender frame for DCC conversion.
If I get brave enough, I will add wipers onto the drivers to allow for (almost) all wheel pickup. (Not sure I'm ready tackle that quite yet though...)
Now the fun part, I don't actually model the steam era, but I figure that some crazy railroad owner could have possibly restored (or even built) a Pacific for either OCS or PR purposes, hence allowing me the opportunity to run a steam locomotive or two every now and then.
(Hey, if other people can do it with steam locomotives like 765, 4014, etc... so can I, in model form, right?)
Everyone keep the great model pictures coming!

Good morning from sunny and mild Northeast Ohio!
Kevin, thanks for starting us out, nice looking rural scene and a steam engine to boot!
Ed, is it supposed to have gold trucks? But it is a great looking unit, I remember getting those coaches in at the hobby shop in the 70's.
David, nice bunch of acquisitions, I have a cup similar to that, that my brother picked up for me when he was working in Britain an a refinery project.
Rich, great deal on those bumpers, our track guy at the club likes the tomar ones, I will have to show him this picture for some we have to add.
Well, since I only got one car done last week, here are three for this week.
Next, a Details West sort of FGE RBL kit, subsituted Molocos cushion coupler pockets for the kit ones, painted the car with Scalecoat II Black and Silver, and Floquil PC Green paint, then lettered with Microscale Decals. Car was in service in the canned goods or other service that required some temperature control, the PC had 319 cars of this X73 class.
Progress on the car started last week, got the basic car together and removed all the cast on grabs, door stops and placards. Then drilled the holes for new Tichy grabs on the car sides. Also added Moloco end of car cushioning to the underframe.
Part of the G39 Fleet on the Strongsville Railroad Club layout, pulled by Steward C628 and C630 locomotives.
Thanks for looking!
After several weeks of building two large structures, Walthers Union Station and the Beer and Ale Brewery, I tackled a mini-project, assembling and painting a dozen Walthers Cornerstone Track Bumpers.
I used to use Tomar Industries track bumpers, but at $8.00 apiece it began to cost me a fortune to equip all of my yard tracks and passenger station tracks. The Walthers Track Bumpers cost $12.00 for a dozen - - a dollar apiece!
These are 4 part assemblies, very small parts, sort of like assembling and painting a bumble bee. I could have bought built-up track bumpers, but that would have cost $4.00 per bumper, and the built-up bumpers are factory painted, either all brown or all yellow. So, they still need to be painted to look good.
Here are 5 assembled track bumpers, painted in brown and gold, on the layout in one of my freight yards.
