Darth Santa Fe Looks like Goldrich is (or was) a Korean brass builder. The only importer I've been able to find is Pecos River Brass. My guess is they weren't around long, changed their name or got absorbed by another factory.

Yea according to brasstrains.com goldrich only made N and O scale locomotives, for PRB. No information at all on HO goldrich engines, let alone gearboxes.
And yes, it is 28:1 gear ratio I just counted.
By default, this engine shouldve come with a Samhongsa made brass gearbox, soldered to the motor's torque arm.

All of my Sunset brass is Korean made. None have that gear box.
Pete.

Definitely something I have not seen before. What is the gear ratio I wonder? Could I have been installed for slower speed?
What the title says, I bought this sunset brass loco and inside I found a gearbox that was clearly from a 3rd party. Not only is it not Samhongsa, but it uses phillips head screws so its definitely not the original. Runs actually pretty well.
Cheers!
