My guess is that it probably runs well, like the Acela they also make. btw, does anyone know if the Acela HHP8 is out yet?

I do not have a model 500.
What I do have is a Shinkansen 100 produced by Model Power.
Any set like these are normally plastic and metal mixed for weight
requirement. Any bullet train will need greater than 24'radius to operate
safely. This is because the cars are 85 foot length models.
As for running characteristic, if the wheels are metal and the track
is laid correctly it should run smoothly. Most sets like this will connect by
drawbar and not coupler to solidify the train. I have not had problems from
my hi-speed trains due to building my layout to accomidate them.
