But that wasn't the real story. Both auctions were ending about 20 minutes apart. One was ending as the Rams/Bucaneers game was in the last two minutes and I was running both and forth between the TV room and my office. In short order, Tom Brady complete a 24 point comback to tie the game with 37 seconds. I ran into my office to watch as I lost the auction in the last second. Then went back to the TV to see Matthew Stafford complete a long pass to Cooper Kupp to set up the game winning field goal on the final play.
The second auction was ending just as the Bills/Chiefs game was starting. I put that one or record so I could devote full attention to the ebay auction. I won that one, then turned my attention to what turned out to be the greatest NFL game I have ever seen. I have never seen a game in which both QBs played so well for the entire game. In the final two minutes, the two teams scored 25 points with 4 lead changes. After the Bills took a 3 point lead with 13 seconds left, Kansas City moved 55 yards in 2 plays then tied it with a field goal on the last play of regulation. They then won in overtime with touchdown.
I don't know why I am writing this. If you care about football, you were watching this. If you're not a football fan, you don't care. I just watched the greatest weekend in NFL history. All four games ended with a tie breaking score on the final play. 3 last second FGs and an overtime touchdown. It doesn't get any better than that.
PS. I'm a Chiefs fan which is one reason I am so happy right now. If I was a fan of one of the four losing teams, I wouldn't have thought it was such a great weekend.
I was working on some things on the layout and had the TV on in the background. I stopped working on it at the 4th quarter of the Bills/Chiefs to catch one of the best games I've ever seen, and I'm a NY Giants fan (don't hold it against me)!

I'm not a football fan, don't even know whoever's going to the Superbowl. But I get why people do. I have to say I do like to watch the highlights of outstanding sports plays, and it sounds like there were a ton of them.
I can more relate to being torn between Ebay closing seconds and other immediate commitments! Been there a number of times.
I'm glad you had an exiting afternoon, and are still feeling the rush. And that you made a score of your own. Show it to us on the next WPF, huh? Dan

The win wasn't that big a deal. It was an interior for a Rivarossi heavyweight diner I had bought on ebay last week. Had I lost that one, the same vendor had a couple more similar that were ending about five minutes after that. It looks like he might be cranking them out on a 3D printer. I had my biggest score last Friday. In another thread that has since been locked I talked about returning an Athearn dummy F7B that had been advertised on ebay as a powered unit. Rather than negotiate a partial refund, the seller chose to have me return it for a full refund. I was searching ebay for a replacement when I came across an Athearn Genesis F7 A/B unit in Pennsy Green with DCC. The seller had bought it from a hobby shop going out of business and which they had in a display case. I picked it up for under $200 including tax and shipping. The MSRP for these is $600 and the discounted price from one online retailer is $484. I didn't really need another Pennsy AB set but I couldn't pass up the bargain. There's another thread going in which modelers are talking about how they have far more locos than what they need. This is just one more example.
This item was shipped by the USPS on Saturday from Pensacola and I was pleasantly surprised to see it is out for delivery today. It's amazing because two weeks ago, I was getting an item that had been shipped via FedEx and they handed it off to the USPS on January 13 at a location that is about an hour drive from where I live. It took the USPS 6 days to get the package to me, even though the shipping label indicated it was supposed to be 2 day priority shipping.
