If you put your e-mail address in a post it might be 'harvested' much more readily or easily than from a Kalmbach server file.
In addition some e-mail clients will helpfully make e-mail addresses in posts clickable, and this can make anti-spam filters trigger to block the post.
How does putting your address in your profile differ from putting it in a post?
doctorwayne Well, Mike, the "Messages" feature is still working for some folks here, but mine (and those of many other members) are not working. I can still receive messages but cannot reply to them at all.I'm uncertain if the Messages feature is totally private, but you might be able to contact some members and give them your e-mail address if you wish them to contact you. Do not, however, put your e-mail address within a post here, as it's then public, and subject to misuse. Wayne

That's why I have two email addresses. One I think of as my junk mail address which I use whenever I have to register with a website. I don't care who gets that one because I largely ignore it unless I'm expecting something to be sent to it. Then I have my friends and family address which I only give out to people I want to communicate with. About 20 years ago, one of my friends shared my private email address with a phishing company that was promising him a free cruise. We had some serious words over that and I ended up getting a new private email address. Needless to say I did not share it with him. I would have no problem with posting my junk mail address on this forum because I don't care who has access to it.
gmpullman SeeYou190 Sharing my email address in my profile has been very beneficial for me. I agree. I've been contacted by many interesting people, many of whom do not participate in the forum but still have worthwhile questions or input just the same. I've had quite a few followers on YouTube contact me or make comments on my videos that result in rewarding conversations, too. Regards, Ed

Ah, So!
maxman,
That's because you haven't added or included your email address on your profile page. If you go into Edit Profile at the top of the screen of your profile page and fill in the email text box under the Contact heading at the right side of the page then your email address will be displayed on your profile page. So, your profile page will only display the information that you've shared with it.

I looked at my profile page, and it appears different than yours. That box on my page is called "shared RSS feeds", whatever they happen to be.
Go ahead and ask for a member to PM you back in detail; that may work if you can't get a composition box to open in PM. They can then give you their preferred e-mail in that message; in any case, the response would be private.
Many people can't access profile page information, myself included. Many people can't access the PMs, myself included on a phone. (I can do it on an obsolescent browser, but I suspect the 'window' to run it is fast closing...)
I am one of the members who is unable to PM others.

Have you tried to click on their avatar, then on their page click on "Start a conversation?" If I remember right, that's how I did it.
Good luck,
Richard
Dear Folk,
I'm new to using the forums. When I click on a member's send message or Add as Friend I get nothing. The Moderator says it is a software problem that will not be fixed soon.
How do I contact a member? Someone offered to help me with a problem, but I don't know how to contact them.
Thanks,
Mike
