Tichy makes queenposts in 3", 5", 6" and 10" sizes. They are individual styrene posts:

If you cut queen posts separately be sure to leave a long shank as heavy as you can arrange, and drill a corresponding hole square into the underframe.
Even fishing line has to be pulled fairly taut to look right, and if the posts are not very stiff relative to the underframe they will be at risk to bend over or break/snap off. This can be irritating if you're using the 'one wire around many posts' approach I've seen in older kit instructions...
I also have several of them laying around

Rust...... It's a good thing !
Four Queen post's per beam, two beams per car, they should be the same ones for the #3700 series MDC 34' OVERTON type cars and the #5000 series MDC 50' PULLMAN cars. I have no MDC 80' PULLMAN PALACE cars which seem to have two Queen post's per beam.
Dear Ed,
i couldn't get the Trains.com send message to work.
Thanks,
Mike
Hello,
Do they look like these?
Queen-post_MDC by Edmund, on Flickr
I have the four shown, two used, two new. These are from the 70 foot Palace cars, though. I do not know if MDC used the same part for the Overton cars.
PM or email your address and I'll send them to you.
Regards, Ed
Unless I'm misunderstanding, there were two pieces with those cars, with four queen posts on each...
Since MDC is now part of Athearn, you might try to contact them. Another option would have been Bethlehem Car Works, Inc.
...but after finally finding the parts there, I discovered that they have been sold to LaBelle.
If you click on that last link, then click on "HO BCW Cast Parts"...go to page two to see the queen post castings. Here's photos of both the cast-metal queen posts...
and the crossbearers...

LaBelle Woodworking makes queen posts.
You could also file a notch in the end of a plastic rod.
You're probably on your own to fit either one to the Overton Car.
Good luck
Dear Folk,
Is there a way to make a queen post for the MDC 34' Overton cars? I got a used kit that lacks the 2 queen posts.
