I think the two Hudsons I have now have a choice of three whistles, I will check later. I changed one of them and left the other original. I really like the sound of the one I changed to, I believe it was the one it had while at the museum.

If the Royal Hudsons will have a Loksound 5 decoder and you have a LokProgrammer then you might be able to download the missing whistle and install it in a vacant sound slot. You should then be able to remap it to an unused function button.
Or, you could email Rapido and inquire and/or put a bug in their ear to include both whistles with the release. Now's the time to do it. Rapido seems to want to go the extra mile so I wouldn't be surprised if both whistles will be included.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
Batman, how right you are regarding the water auxilary tender. I watched the Thief River Falls fire department fill it with a fire hose hooked up to a hydrant when it stopped there Sept/07. I seem to recall that it came from a D&H challenger.
It is a beautiful loco but it was burning diesel fuel so it didn't smell like the steam I remember, it smelled like a diesel loco but certainly didn't sound like one. I paced it for 40 miles as it ran beside highway 59. I was the only vehicke following it. I got some great video. It has 2 different whistles. One by the stack is very shrill and was used in the town but at grade crossings in the country the original one was used . I wonder if Rapido has that covered.

LastspikemikeWill Rapido make the extra oil tender for the full excursion train experience?
Are you talking about the extra canteen? It is for water, not oil. Here is a photo of it in a previous life before it was made all purdy for excursion service.
Note, it still carries the same #.
I was under the impression that the additional tender behind 2816 was a water carrier, not oil. I've not seen the loco in person, living in the U.K. but neither have I seen any photos of it without the extra tender. So I hope the wooden display box allows a space for the extra vehicle.

selectorI will get 2816 with display case. Can't pass that up...no way!
I was on the fence about 2816 right up until they announced it. I have no willpower and lots of PWRS gift certificates that will ease the pain if not remove it completely.
I have been waiting for the H1a/b ever since Rapido announced the CP Heritage series back in, what.....2014? I will get 2816 with display case. Can't pass that up...no way! The wad of cash could choke a horse, but you only live once.
The GP-38 looks like it will be a winner. We have one operating on the Island, or did until maybe 5-8 years ago.
Conrail GP38?
Hmmmmmm.
Hmm, odd no one followed up on the Rapido product announcement (well, I didn't see it on this Forum anyway).Three items announced, none particularly useful to me (I model SE Pennsylvania c. late 2010s), but nonetheless:-- EMD GP38 locomotive (not the -2 version).-- CP H1 Class 4-6-4 locomotive.-- MLW M420 locomotive.So...yay? Nothing commanding me to take out my credit card, but your opinion may vary.
The reference to the Credit Valley Railway may be, in some way, an on-site reveal of a new product. There are two former CPR locos on that property, 4-4-0 136 and 4-6-0 1057.
There's also some background information HERE regarding that site.

No, that was announced a long time ago.
This week's announcement was a re-run of Budd mid-train dome cars.

Mid dome coaches thats what rapidos news is new releases
I have old (MDC) and recent (Athearn) versions of the oldtime 2-8-0. The recent version I have runs very well. It is a bit spartan with respect to the details, but it is good enough for me. It does run slow, especially when running a DCC model on a DC layout. For older MDC steamers, NWSL sells replacement gears. Not absolutely necessary in my opinion for late productions...

doctorwayneMDC's earlier versions were noisy, but decent runners. I had the Consolidation...

LastspikemikeNo.
LastspikemikeThe real tragedy is this was a re-issue by Athearn from old tooling.
The only one I could find was this 2-8-0 which looks to be a former MDC offering...

...and the 10 Wheeler...
...and an Atlantic, too, but I didn't fit in with my layout at that time.
I am wondering if this announcement is for real. Rapido just announced 3 new models less than 2 weeks ago. Seems like a quick tirn around to announce more. As a Rapido fan, I hope I am wrong.

riogrande5761 Anything steam costs more these days, but Rapido tends to be "up there". But for those who are big fans, they'll probably open their wallets or find a way. Going forward, sticker shock will continue to be common.

For that MSRP they are going to have to pry open their wallets!

Lastspikemike Athearn did this for an old time consolidation and it's disappointing frankly. Sticks out as inadequate next to my used Spectrums.

Lastspikemike I'm just happy Rapido is finally building those CPR ten wheelers. It's been so long coming I can now afford to buy two which I really need..... Really hoping they'll build those FM 16-44... followed by Trainmasters and C Liners.

I was interested until I saw the MSRP. Talk about sticker shock.
I suspect this could be a dealer exclusive product announcment & run, similar to what Broadway Limited Imports did this year when through the dealer Factory Direct Hobbies, they did a limited exclusive new run of their six wheeled three axle Plymouth switchers that you could only buy throughh FDH.
Keep in mind what the OP is talking about is on the Credit Valley hobby shop's website. As far as I can see, there's nothing on Rapido's website or their latest e-newsletter talking about a new 'surprise' announcement.
Since the norm has become for new products to become available one to two years after they are announced, I'm not real excited about this.
If and when this product becomes available, then I might be interested. Until then, ho-hum.
Yeah, "" is right! No details but announcing December. I mean, I'm not exactly on the edge of my seat. We don't even know the scale! It could be N and then I would'Nt care at all. Ok, that was a bad pun. I've just lost interest with Rapido after my disappointment with there SW1200 lighting cuts. I have no time for a surprise announcement in a mystery scale. Sorry to sound cynical and to rain on others parades.

They don't say a scale or even a teaser for the product. Kind of weird.
