Both responses sound good and I'll try them at once.

BTW, I will use this only for my private use on my 4X8 layout - and I'm probally delving into whole new realm of frustration and bad language but I like the look of a Viaduct and think it would add character to my layout.

Sincerely,
Greg H

Thanks again for your responses - they are greatly appreciated.

Greg,

Your question is a bit difficult to understand so if I take this in the wrong direction let me know.

You want to make a stone arch viaduct, correct? This will resemble an aquaduct and a picture of one may tell you all you want to know.

I believe it is essential to have the stones of the arch extend to the side face of the arch so these would be clearly visible from the side. One way to acheive this would be to measure the thickness of the stones you plan to use for the arch and cut an arch into your Chooch wall just a little larger to account for the thickness of the stones. Then you build the stones of the arch back into the hole to fini***he 'side face' of the stone arch structure. After you do this, you could create multiple castings of the finished arch to create the viaduct. I don't know if this creates copyrite (or other) problems though.

Good Luck - Ed

Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to scratch build a viaduct? I have a Chooch Enterprises random stone (medium) wall and can make more walls from homemade molds.

Would it be OK to put the viaduct arched wall BEHIND the cutout to simulate depth, or does traditional thinking say to have it flush with the wall itself? If so, how do you create the added viaduct (arched portion) to remain seamless between the arch and wall?

Has anyone attempted this before?

Thanks in advance and I appreciate any help you may be able to offer.

Sincerely,
Greg H
