What I don't understand is why someone clicks on the thread but not the video?

If I watch the video here and don't click the view on youtube button, does youtube count the video as being viewed?

It shows up as being watched as embedded in trains. com or if you click on it twice for a larger view and go right to Youtube it will show that as well.

Thanks Simon.

Being a guy that likes numbers/stats curiosity got the best of me and so I did a little monitoring to see how many watched the video I posted. Youtube has an analytics feature that lets you know who is watching and for how long.

In the 24 hour period after I posted the video 196 people viewed the thread and 3 people watched the video. I can now go to the shareholders and explain the dismal return on popcorn sales.Laugh

I then posted the video to other places to see how the return was there and was surprised by a large number of views. What I don't understand is why someone clicks on the thread but not the video? Unless Youtubes analytics page just doesn't work.

I think Friday Night At The Movies can now drift off into the sunset. There's just no money in it!Laugh

Bear, thanks for the layout tour, I bet running on that would have been a treat. Love that trestle and was glad to see that little Atlas station on duty as it seems to be on so many layouts.

I was busting up trains this afternoon and I kept pulling larger and larger cuts of cars with my Rapido SW1200RS. Here is how far I got.

Take a guess as to how many it pulled and see if you come close.

Was that a drive-in on the hilltop??

Yeah, and the concession stand sells HO scale popcorn too!!Dinner
The movie now showing is “Seven Year Itch”. Apart for Marilyn’s iconic white dress/ air vent scene, I’m not sure why the guys chose it? The Bear would have gone for a cartoon!! “That’s All, ffolkes”!!
Cheers, the Bear.Smile

So Brent, will there be a movie for tonight? Simon

It’s a bit late for Friday Night, as it’s just turned Sunday here, but here’s a bit of nostalgia, well at least for the Bear.

I hope so, but it won't be by Cecil B DeBrent. Hopefully, some more of our group will step up. With most of us owning cell phones it is pretty easy to do.

Thanks, Dave and Rich.

Does your track plan permit you to reverse the direction of trains? Rich

The track that circles around closest to the RH is a balloon track with an AR on it that is almost 16' long. I can run a train through that to turn it if I choose. My turntable is only a 90', so larger engines need to use the balloon track as well to change direction.

It makes a big layout look even bigger.

I wouldn't call it a big layout by any means. There was a great thread years ago here on how large a layout had to be to fit in the small, medium, or large category. I figured mine was a larger size of the small category.

I like seeing panoramic views of layouts with trains going around, they are the ones that gave me lots of good ideas for mine when I got back into the hobby. So grab your phones, turn up the lights and don't worry about the hot water tank in the background. Give us the big picture.Cowboy

Thanks, Tom, love the garden RR, I want one and so do the dogs.Laugh

Did some coupler testing with a longer train and replaced the couplers on six cars to Kadees. Ran it for over an hour while I was working on the layout without mishap.

So here is, once around, big train, little layout, or, Honey, does this train make my layout look small.Whistling

Here are mine.  3 of the outdoor layout and one of the basement layout.

All good too, Tom, though if I was a brakeman on the garden railroad, I’d be wanting danger money with all that low hanging vegetation!!Smile, Wink & Grin

Bear, didn't you scratch build that boat on the flatcar?

Yep!

Turn the sound down on both of these!!!!

Firstly, some “Britishness” …

Ed, I like that hoist, I think I'll make one for my RH.

Easy to scratch, yes. Or you could cheat:

The layout at the hobby store right next to my home.

It's been there since I was a kid.

I'll bring the popcorn and the fine scotch next time

I have not had any decent Scotch in a long time. I have not bought a bottle of the hard stuff in probably 5 years, and finished the last of it over a year ago.

I should restock at some point.

Good morning

I like the thread Brent.  Great idea!  Fun to see the trains running and the hours and hours of beautiful scenery passing by in seconds.

Don't think for a minute I didn't hit the pause button quite a few times to take a look around to get some idea'rs.

I'll bring the popcorn and the fine scotch next timeLaugh

Wow, that was some great information.

Thank you for answering all those questions. I am relieved my information and understanding was not too far off.

“Great videos, everyone. The background scenery in them makes the scenes complete ('cept mine, but it's coming along)”.
It maybe a work in progress, Dan, but that building certainly looks impressive!

“I believe that's the airpump (also called air compressor) sound you're talking about.
You’re right, Charles.

Trainman, you just made a believer out of me regarding working smoke on models! I always thought it looked gimmicky, but those beautifully weathered Pennsy locos display it as convincingly as I've ever seen. Both slow and at speed. And syncro sound and smoke, WOW!    Dan

Edited in: I just noticed those are O scale. Great use of that unfair advantage!Laugh

Yea haha smoke only really works in O or G scale unfortunantly. I dont use smoke in my HO engines unless I have guests over. Even so, people are usually more impressed by its ingenuity rather than its realism. Norm's 3rd rail o scale layout is absolutely stunning, Id highly recommend you check his videos theyre very entertaining!

Trainman440, what is the loud knocking sound in your last video? My new BLI 2-8-0 does that. There's a list of sounds, but I don't know how to match the names to the sounds because I don't know what they are. I'd like to isolate the CV for the knocking sound and turn it down. The factory default is apparently "eleven", really loud.

I believe that's the airpump (also called air compressor) sound you're talking about. I do enjoy it although it can sometimes get annoying. Cheers!

Glad people have enjoyed some of my picks :)
