Hello everyone, and welcome to a brand new weekend!
A weekend can be kind of a rebirth and a chance to rewind and start over. I really need to do that. Thursday morning on these forum I lost my temper and sounded off in a way that does not match my personality or disposition. I did this in a public place and lowered myself to a level that I find embrassing. I am sorry for my actions and I hope we can move on from that.
Anyway... here comes the fun...
This week my share is a couple of massive orders I placed with a company called "Railroad Kits" in Bethel, Pennsylvania. These people have the original molds from Fine Scale Miniatures and offer a huge variety of the detail castings and casting sets that match some of Fine Scale Miniatiure's kits.
I have been trying to acquire lifetime supplies when I buy things now. I don't know how many detail castings I really need, but Fine Scale Miniatures details are legendary. I was never really a fan of most of their kits, but I always drooled over those details that were included that really made the scenes come alive.
Some day I would like to build FSM kit number 190, the "R. Schramm Manufacturing Company", but that will be a project for way down the road, if ever.
My first order was two detail sets (Bailey's Produce and Duffy's Coal), a set of barrel castings, and about two dozen packs of detail parts.
This is all the parts in this order all laid out and sorted:
Wow was I impressed. This was probably a lifetime supply right here, but I was so excited to have these that I immediately went to the computer and placed a second, even larger, order.
This order was three detail castings sets (Railcar Shed, Super Sawmill, and Roadside Delights), and about three dozen more packs of detail parts.
This time I had almost too many detail parts to fit into a picture when they were all laid out and sorted.
Now I absolutely have a lifetime supply of detail parts, but that did not stop me from sending an email to Railroad Kits asking how I could buy even more parts! I think I might have a problem!
This is the real gem of all the kits I ordered. This is part number CS-175 for the Rail Car Shed. This boxed pack cost only $49.00 and includes 108 individual castings and 6 more trees of small detail parts. There must be around 200 detail parts in total in this set.
Everyone who models in HO scale should immediately go to Railroad Kits and buy this set. It is that worthwhile to have. It has all kinds of wonderful George Sellios creativity for a great price.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone's photographs this weekend. This thread can always be counted on to be the best of the week.

Good morning from cloudy and cool Northeast Ohio! After 11 Tornado Warnings last night things have calmed down in the area.
Kevin, thanks for starting us out that is a lot of parts, I have so many diesel detailing parts but some I never use and end up buying others that I use a lot.
David, more great modeling scenes, I always enjoy looking at your pictures.

This weeks completed work!
Athearn 50 Ton Composite Side War Emergency Hopper Car, moved the brake components to their prototype location and added airlines from the reservoir to the ABD valve, also hung a main air line under the side of the car. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Black paint and lettered with Mark Vaughn's Wabash decals. In 1943 the Wabash built 400 of these cars for themselves and 75 for the Ann Arbor in their Decatur Shops. Most were gone by the time of the N&W merger in 1964.
Red Caboose R70-15 Mechanical Refridgerator Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Orange paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. These were 1977 repaint of 1965 delivered cars. These cars could be found on PFE trains during the summer while PFE cars went to the BAR in winter during the potato hauling season. The BAR sold a lot of their cars to PFE after they lost the potato traffic to trucks following the 1969 PC mess in the Selkirk yard where cars sat for so long the potatos rotted in the cars.

David: Be careful. Those wonderful detail parts are very tempting to be sure. The new parcel shed looks like it has been there a long time. Nice job.
Rick: I have boxes of steam locomotive detail parts I accumulated for years. I had plans to scratchbuild some steamers, but then brass prices came down and my income went up. I will still use some on projects, but I have way more that I will ever use. I do not have many diesel detail parts. Most of my diesels have been F units, and there is not much needed for them. Your BAR mechanical refrigerator looks handsome. Also, those NKP geeps look really good on the club layout.
Simon: Lifetime supplies have been my goal for a couple of years now. I think I am getting close. I will start a new thread on that subject soon. Your sawmill makes for a great scene and photograph.
Scott: Your pictures of chasing the motorcar are great. That is a fun subject.

Cheap weathering!.
A year or so ago Dawn gave me some old make-up powders she no longer required.
I do not normally do weathering on railway items, but I tried the powders on some parcel vans. Nothing fancy. Just straight dry-brushing the powders on. A mix of various browns.
The vans still look grubby and dusty.
Kevin, Thanks for the WPF start-up, nice to have a well stocked parts bin when kit bashing and scratch building.

Finally got this image to work!
I restored this Bachmann boxcar. It looked good for a Bachmann and I've never seen this one before. It was missing the trucks. I restored the trucks and added BMCs to the ends and a brake wheel. A simple fun project.
Thank you to everyone that has contributed this weekend. It was a light week, but I am sure we will all be back again next weekend.
David: The make-up powdered train cars do have a bit of weathering to them. My wife thinks the Tamiya weathering powders are just relabeled make-up.
Peter: I am hoping to have fun building some beautiful scenes like you have. Great alley scene.
Mr. Mikado: That is a great looking boxcar. Good job on the restoration. I remember that car from days gone by.
