Opinons on the Recent Rivarossi Heisler?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, January 20, 2005 11:38 AM
I bought a Rivarossi Heisler some 20 years or so ago, and was wondering exactly what are the differences with the more recent issue. I see Trainworld has them on for $89.95, a long way from the $299.00 list price.

Here's my 20 year old:

I had to install styrene pieces to be able to mount the Kadee coupler boxes on this old timer. I made the vent in the cab open, but seem to have lost the actual vent. It has wire handrails to the cab, and wire grab irons on the back of the tender area, but I think I may have added these myself.

Comments on the new one please?

Thanks!

I have a new one purchased on ebay for about 100- It arrived in a red box (Riverossi) with the usual papers and was in mint condition.

I ran it and the loco is the best "slow" runner in my fleet. Not even my P2k 0-6-0 can run that slow. I have jealously gaurded the engine until the approaching date sometime this year where I can run it with some logs.

Part of the problem is the danged log cars cost too much money. I suppose the savings I paid for the engines can go into the log cars. I do know that I have a good engine very similar to yours at a good price.

There were many little bitty bags of parts that came grab irons and such. I think eventually I would be putting them on.

I just got a bunch of MDC log cars (short & long and metal) 3 in a box new-old, 12 in all, for under $40.00 plus $5.60 shipping on ebay, I also made some from old flat cars, they look great.
