A Little North Shore Lines for Saturday
Posted by emdmike on Saturday, October 2, 2021 4:06 PM

Finally got my pair of CNS&M cars back from the painter.  Still have to be decaled, windows put in and can motors put in them.  One picture with my Wabco AA2 air horn, which was a common horn on the North Shore cars.(yes it works).   Cars are E. Suydam & Company imports, made by Tsubomi in Japan.

Those are really cool Mike, can't wait to see them motoring down the track.

What do the neighbours say about the air horn in ops sessions?Laugh

The kids love it, but I dont use either it or the Nathan P3 currently on my SUV much in the neighborhood.  The AA2 is not as loud as the P3 but still quite loud.

Those CNS&M cars look really good. Makes me want to pull out that CA&E chapter in 'More Railroads You Can Model' which I've read many times. Looking forward to seeing what you create.

I have a tiny portable layout to take to shows that is 44" by 32", has a basic loop of track and is lined with Suydam poles.   Just need to string overhead and learn to do the pull off's for the curves.  I did a basic overhead on a similar size modular table but the curves never got the pull offs, so it was a bit geometic looking thru the curves.  But it worked despite that.   This table design is much lighter weight so I can move it by myself and it fits in the back of my 08 Jeep Liberty(mini commander style).  I did get the window "glass" installed in both cars over the weekend as well as decals on the destination boards.  Working on good decals to number and put the side emblem on(wish someone did a nice enamaled etched North Shore side board in HO scale).

emdmike, I don't know if you are familiar with Trolleyville. If not, google it and look at the "school" section as it deals with the overhead wiring.
