Hi Everyone,
I had a chance to visit the the Magic of Scale Model Railroading at the California State Railroad Museum yesterday, and I've got to say it was really impressive. If you are ever in Sacramento you should check it out. Here are some cell phone photos I took of the exhibit including the entrance....
A description and models from John Allen:
Some model railroad pass cards displayed:
Some excellent models/dioramas were on display as well. Here is an HO scale model of the West Side Railroad lumbermill at Tuolumne, CA:
O scale had a impressive model from down under, and this was called "Smugglers Cove. Here are some highlights:
My favorite was seeing Malcom Furlow's San Juan Central which was a HO scale MR project railroad back in 1983. Follows are some photos of that layout:
My favorite scene on the layout was seeing the manual crank for the turntable:
Anyway, a very enjoyable afternoon at the railroad museum.

Hello All,
Amazing photos!!!!
Love the hand-operated turntable.
Hope this helps.
"Uhh...I didn’t know it was 'impossible' I just made it work...sorry"
I usually take the family to Sacramento each summer to visit relatives. Missed the last 2 due to covid, but will go to the museum next visit! Dan
