Yesterday I received a catalog from Fairfield Collectibles, sellers of diecast vehicles, mostly 1/18 and 1/24 scale. They announced they had acquired Historic Rails & Roads. There was only 5 1/2 pages of railroad related items with only one page of locos and rolling stock. The rest was DVDs, books, and calendars.
The last time I placed an order with Historic Road & Rails, all six items were on back order even though I placed the order the same day I received the catalog. I'm wondering if they were whittling down their inventory in advance of the sale of the company to Fairfield Collectibles.
If this catalog is any indication, it appears the railroading portion of the business will be greatly deemphasized. I never ordered a lot from Historic Rail but every once in a while I'd find some interesting items at a reasonable price. I'm betting that will happen much less frequently.
