Happy Weekend To All!
This is the weekly thread where we all gather to share photographs of our model railroad subjects. This is consistently one of the best threads on the Model Railroader forums every week.
I have a boring contribution this week to get us started. I got a good deal on some cast resin vehicles that are suitable for my 1954 era, so I snapped them up.
OK, we are out of the gate and rolling.
I hope we all have a great weekend.

Living the dream.
Congrats on the find!
I've managed to make a bit of progress on the On30 boxcars I'm scratchbuilding, now that all the styrene strips have arrived:
It's mostly plastic and coffee stirrers for the wood bits, but I used some old rail for the bracing, and the chassis' are Tichy Train Group ones that have been widened and spliced together (for the 30' boxcar at the back).

Wait, I'm actually early this weekend? Last night I hosted a live stream on YouTube, as I recently hit 300 subscribers on my channel. It's very long, but the link is below if you're interested.

I've also made progress on the layout, which I've highlighted in this short video.

Kevin .... Thanks for starting Weekend Photo Fun. Those Stoney Mountain resin kits look fmiliar to me. I have about a dozen of them on my layout including a varity of cars and trucks.
TB Danny ..... Your On30 boxcar project looks fun.
Harrison .... Thanks for sharing your videos.
....
I have been working on four more ore cars which I added to the ore train. It now has 34 cars. I am using Northern Pacific RS3's to pull the train.

Great work all.
Here's one of the projects I've got going on.
Remember, I own an Ender Pro 3, so I've able to print detail parts. But, this is a first: the arched windows panel is printed. I drew it up in Sketchup, and printed.
Im still fitting it possibly, but there's the result with a nice first coat

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio! Made it back from California in one piece after taking the Red-Eye.
Kevin, thanks for starting us out, good purchase for you, wish we could find some inexpensive 60's and 70's cars to fill out all my auto racks.
TB Danny, neat looking project, looking forward to seeing the final results.
Harrison, thanks for the videos looking forward to seeing more.
Jimmy, I don't know what I am looking at, are the detail parts added to the car or is the car printed, I can't tell the differences in the two pictures.
Garry, good looking ore train, right now I have 4 more ore cars on my PRR version from the Great Lakes to the steel mills in Pittsburgh.
This weeks contribution:
Branchline 40' 1944 AAR Boxcar kit, new sidesill from Evergreen Plastic and A-Line Sill Steps, car was painted with Scalecoat II Big Sky Blue and lettered with Mask Island Decals. The LNAC was a 7 mile shortline off the Southern in Louisville and leased the Evans rebuilds for general use, many found their way to Bufallo servicing the flour mills on the Bufallo Creek Railroad.
Walthers 4427Cf Covered Hopper Kit, equipped with a Plano Roofwalk, painted with Scalecoat II Reefer White and lettered with Herald King Decals. The Lehigh Valley purchased or leased cars from General American, Bethlehem Steel and Pullman Standard to service the grain elevators in Bufallo, NY. I am using the Walthers Car as a standin for the Bethlehem Steel car with had the same panel arrangement.
By the way I miscounted, only had to drill 68 #79 holes, and I only broke one drill but I had been using it for months drilling various mounting holes in cars and diesels, so it was due. Thanks for the Bear-Toon last week, I lost my internet connection so was unable to comment on all the great pictures last week.
Since Garry did his ore train, think I will pull out one of my old pictures this week.

Thanks for looking!

Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
Rick: I printed the windows with the arch.
The car is an old ahm observation. So it doesn't originally match the window arrangement of the prototype. So, I modified the simple ones with styrene. The arched windows were another story. I cut the original plastic panel out, and slid in the printed ones, it was a perfect fit.
I take the fact that the windows blend in so well, as a compliment to a well designed 3d part.
Kevin, thanks for starting another good weekend of layout photos. You will certainly have enough stuff for your layout when it comes. I know you've mentioned it before, but are you any closer to getting it started?
tbdanny, that's nice work on the building the boxcars. Be sure to let us see the finished product when you're done!
Harrison, nice job with the old Amtrak building.
Garry, you've got another nice scene from your layout. Having 34 ore cars in the train is amazing. If I were to put 34 cars in one train, the locomotive would be following the last car with about 3 inches to spare.
Jimmy, that's nice work on the car. It's pretty neat you can print the parts you need.
Rick, each week you show us just how advanced a modeler you are. Those cars look great!
I haven't worked on the layout much -- been gone on vacation.
Here's a scene I finished a while back of the grave diggers getting ready for a funeral at the church:

I'm back already... with another video! Sorry for the poor quality, my phone camera is not the best... finally some nice sound-equipped locomotives visited my layout!

I've always been curious about those cast resin vehicles. Do you mask off the windows and spray/airbrush them or do you hand paint them. I think somewhere in storage I've got one of them that I bought a long time ago but never got around to putting together because I was unsure how best to paint them.
Kevin, Thanks for opening the WPF, looks like you're gonna' have lots of modeling fun being 'lost in the 50s'.
Harrison, Like your movies
John, Appears you've got the makings for a neat Halloween scene.
Recently acquired a New Look bus from Rapido's current run in S.F. Muni livery. I've many good memories of time spent at Fishermans Wharf. Added a driver, a few passengers & a little xtra San Francisco flavor.
Thanks to all the contributors & viewers, have a good & safe weekend, regards, Peter
Hello Everyone — Thanks for getting us started this week, Kevin. August? Already!
Jimmy_BraumWho missed me?
I was asking about you just last week, Jimmy.
Great contributions and photos from everyone.
I've been working on some ore cars, too, Garry. I've been scrounging as many of the MTH ore jennies that I can find. Trouble is, in all of MTH's wisdom they only offer THREE road numbers. I have fifty cars and more on the way.
So I've been on a renumbering campaign. Fortunately a fellow in Pennsylvania has decal sets available.

Once I thought I found the holy grail, a set of SIX ore cars. When they showed up, imagine my surprise when I found out they were ALL the same number!
I found a deal on four CN cars and scraped the lettering off and repainted them to Bessemer. Next will be some generous doses of weathering.

Another little project done this week was to install lighting and do a little interior painting on a PRR RPO car.

I found a reasonable figure to place in the doorway ready to raise the mail bag hook. I'll have to readjust the LED in that forward baggage compartment. Way too bright!
Not that I don't already have enough projects but I'm also experimenting with "modernizing" a brass PRR Z78 business car with new car sides.

My plan is actually to build a Conrail Office Car Special and that train had several modernized business cars in it.
Great Stuff, everyone!
Carry On, Ed
Hey all! Happy to be joining in the weekend fun!
Kevin - some nice looking cars there!
tbdanny - those boxcars look great! hope you're enjoying the building efforts!
Harrison - Congrats on 300 subs! The layout is looking great!
Garry - That is a really nice shot! Have fun working on those ore cars!
Jimmy - That heavyweight looks incredible!
Rick - Great looking rolling stock!
John - a very non-traditional scene! Looks great!
Peter - Rapido stuff is always great! Enjoy the bus!
Ed - some awesome projects! That work on the Conrail buisness car especially is cool! Enjoy!
As for me, I've finally got some Microscale Liquid Decal Film, Micro Set and Micro Sol, so I've gotten back to work on my SD50F! Decals have been applied to the painted model, and I've done some light weathering! As my first real foray into properly using decals, so its a bit wonky, but overall pretty good!
Next step is to install the windows, do some work with styrene to make a skirt between the shell and the chassis and some wiring on the decoder, and she's ready for the rails!

Nice batch o' pics of your work Gents!!
Here is my contribution one of my original Model Power FA2s in a brace of three lokeys working into Shaniko on the Mt Hood RR.
She has since been upgraded to DCC and has a matching, powered B unit to go with her. Those original MP units came from Austria with a large can motor in 'em making them very good runners.
Don; Prez, CEO or whatever of the Wishram, Oregon and Western RR
Started an eastern car works PRR passenger car. It will be AN MOW car
This HOe Plymouth switcher needs a litle more work like couplers. It has been mounted to its power truck. Much weathering needed like the others. Still no track components yet.
More work on this industry still unnamed. The lime leach isnt as bad as the pic makes it look. first layer of scenery done. Still looks to good condition. needds more work to make it look abandoned.
Of course some train running. Found the Hudson and 2-6-2 need attention. very sluggish.
