The P42 does have two red tail lights on each end.  Mine light up on F6.  They're directional.  Or would that be anti-directional?

It attatches to the rear light board, but unsure which light. (Back-up light works as it should, so marker lights?)

I have emailed Athearn as well as posting here.

Just thought if someone had a correct diagram it might allow me to figure it out quicker is all.

I've got the diagram for the Genesis P42, and it won't help you.

I recommend you find where the other end of the loose wire attaches, call Athearn, and ask them where it should be connected.

HO Genesis P42 Lighting Question
Posted by ricktrains4824 on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 6:54 PM

My Genesis HO P42 arrived today, and there seems to be a thin black wire to the rear light board that was never connected to the circuit board.

Does anyone know where this should be attatched?

The supplied diagram in mine is actually the old RTR version diagram, with the DCC Ready 9 pin plug adapter board, not the new Genesis Chassis and board, so is of no help.
