Mister Mikado Charles, Trainworld still has the Bachmann GG-1s on sale, excellent prices for DCC ready AND DCC Sound Value. But they didn't have the Green PRR DCC Ready I wanted. Also they charge shipping, $9.99 to $12.99 depending on the price. (any item $89.99 and above it goes to $12.99) Here's their HO and N GG-1s: https://www.trainworld.com/shop-by-brand/bachmann.html?engine_style=877&product_list_order=price

Indeed, about 3 months ago they had all the colors remaining and most were $89.99. Now they have one left in Tuscan red, the one you found. PRR didnt have many tuscan red GG1s hence why I dont plan on getting this last one, but Im sure someone out there will want it!
Cheers!
Charles

I am curious about the current GG1s. I have 26 Rivarossi G'S. I have always found them to be smooth runners. All have been repainted with Floquil paint and microscale decals all with different #s. The early numbered ones have had the drop coupler housing removed. I am somewhat amazed at what people are getting for a streamlined engine. There s very little wrong with the Riv. Model. I don't see the need for engine sound in a locomotive so quiet in real life that it was almost silent. Horn and bell maybe. Saw hundreds of the real ones growing up close up at North Philly Station. Never heard an air compressor noise at any time. Just blowers standing still. The motor makes enough noise for my killing. Would I buy something newer today? Maybe. It will take a lot for me to convert however. Guess I am becoming a neanderthal
Thanks all, for your kind wishes! Happy to see so many GG-1 fans out there. A true art deco work of art (and an electrical monster on wheels all at the same time). -Rob
Mister Mikado Antonio, here's the Urban Dictionary meaning: "Stepped in S***. Past tense of Step in S***, meaning having had a stroke of good fortune or luck." It's confusing, yes, but there it is. Other sources claim the opposite meaning. -Rob

Ok now I understand. Never too old to learn; thanks Rob! So ironic as you just brought back a childhood memory. I was pulling weeds from a grass strip in front of my parents house. At one point I reached down and my hand landed in dog poop! I was mad enough to chew steel! My Dad, having just stepped outside, asked me what was wrong. I showed him my hand and he laughted saying "Oh wow, this means that you're going to run into some money!" Of course, you can imagine the confused look on my 12 year face at the time. Anyway, a hand scrub wash with Ajax scouring powder and water cooled off my jets. So now, decades later, I see the connection with that saying.
I hope that you enjoy your GG1 and that it performs well for you as mine has with me. Below is a photo of mine.

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"
TrainWorld seems to always have an ad in RMC and/or MR each month for 10% off on orders over $100. If you're looking at a $89.99 engine, I'm sure you can find something to add to clear $100, a couple tubes of glue or some Kadee couplers maybe?
Hello Mr. Mikado,
Please for forgive me for seeming "clueless" but how did you step in to "poop"??
I'd say "Congratulations, good going!"
BTW: I purchased a sound equipped Bachmann GG1 from M.B Klein when they hit the market. Brunswick Green with the single stripe. Initially skeptical, I was pleasantly surprised at its heavy weight, smooth, quiet running qualities, and the ability to pull an 11 car Walthers /Rivarossi train with ease. The primary "screw up" on it is the yellow herald lettering, which should actually be white. But I can live with that for now.
I'm happy for you but your choice of this thread's title threw me for a loop!
Trainworld was selling them for the longest time for $89.99 for DCC and Sound Value...I only picked up one (black jack), sort or regret not buying another.
Rob. A lovely looking model.

Glad to hear you like your new GG-1. I hope it runs well for you!
I bought a Bachmann GG-1 a few years back. It had a sound decoder. I got a good price on mine from Trainworld.
I'm not a prototype purist. But, I had a GG-1 when I was much younger, a Lionel in O-scale. I loved it then, and I love it now. I've cleaned up and painted my old Tyco streamline passenger cars, getting rid of the crumbling Santa Fe decals and adding a red stripe at the window level.
Yeah, having a GG-1 is a treat. Congratulations.
By the way, get real Kadees for it. Don't even wait for the inevitable failure. My HO model didn't make it once around the layout before the first coupler failure.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
I was searching for a good price for a new DCC ready Bachmann GG-1, the discontinued one 65201 etc. The best I could find was on ebay, $120 plus shipping, most of them much higher. I googled further and came up with this bargain on of all places, Amazon with its notoriously high train prices. Winkies Hobby in PA, an Amazon seller, wants $97.65 plus free shipping, so I grabbed one very quickly. They shipped it priority extremely well packed to AZ and I got it in TWO DAYS (!!!) in time for Fathers Day and it is indeed new even though the title does not state. Runs smooth and powerful, a gorgeous engine with beautiful paint. For all those interested:

I'm not affiliated with Winkies or Amazon, just wanted to share a bargain. -Rob
