I did some research but nothing much came up. A few old forums mentioned them as being reliable, but their website is sooo old looking.
They got a really good deal on the new BLI ATSF 2-8-2s right now, so I was considering getting one from them. Are they trustworthy? Real?
Thanks,
Charles

I bought a few engines from them. Most recently about a year ago.
No problems as I recall. If I'm not mistaken, the one engine, a BLI Mikado, was listed on eBay and Amazon. The Amazon price was slightly less and my Prime free shipping was available. Saved about $30 over the eBay cost.
Good Luck, Ed
Charles,
I believe I ordered a locomotive from them a few years back. No issues that I remember...

I ordered from them this past year, and again, no problems.

I've ordered from them several times over the past few years, most recently for one of the recently released Atlas U23Bs. No problems.
Hogtrainz web site is pretty terrible, particularly the pre-order process.
Awesome, thanks guys!
Yea I wish their website would be updated. Even Trainworld (who's original website imo was fine) updated theirs...
Is it hognztrains.com or hogTrainz.com? Seems to get two different results.

I quit using Hogtrainz when they shorted me on a pre-order and I had to scramble to get the engines I wanted from another supplier.

In the past they charged my card for an item, said they had it, and then subsequently did NOT have it, and I thus missed out on the opportunity to buy the item elsewhere. They did refund my card, but imo they should not charge one's credit card for items they do not physically have.
So, no, I will not deal with them again.

I pre-ordered for a while because I wanted to be sure I could get certain items. They explained you had to preorder by the preorder date to guarantee getting items.
I ordered some trailers and was shorted one or two. I decided to to stop preordering from Hogtrainz. I'm not a big fan of them.

I've ordered from them a few times and had no issues. I have a locomotive on pre-order so hope that transaction will work out well.

Getting back to the original post/title, I think Hogtrainz is trustworthy, but you have to understand how the pre-order works. But of a number of vendors I've worked with, I'm not a fan, mainly because you wait until they ship and notify, and by then you may have missed other opportunities because you locked yourself into a pre-order with them. They will also blackball you at HT if you don't follow through with them. I have other vendors that work better for me so other than one last pre-order, I've quit using HT.
May I ask what HT stands for?
Thanks
