I have installed DCC in the very small old-time woodburning American Standard, as per IHC. for a picture, go to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vandtmodelers1869/
The decoder shown is a Digitrax DZ123.
You may have to join the group to get in, but look for "Randy's" album in photos, and see the one picture.

I bought one that I haven't seen yet. It has a DCC decoder installed. I expect it to arrive tomorrow.

Not only that, but a Bachmann handcar and a Bachmann GE 44-tonner. IHC locomotives are not DCC ready, but hard wiring a decoder into one is relatively easy because their can motors are properly isolated from the frame. The only real problem I have encounted with IHC models in that the headlight wiring must either be left alone, which means it is always on, or the locomotive must be disassembled so the headlight can be re-wired for DCC control.

Is it or as anyone been able to putt a decoder (hopefully with sound) in to a smaller steamer like IHC 4-4-0 ? I am a newbee to this hobby , but I am definatly going DCC. I have two of these IHC 4-4-0 old time steamer engines. I would really like to use these two.
