.While it is 85F outside it is about 65 at most in our basement. When the A/C runs for a long time the cold air just sinks down the open stairway. I have all the vents shut off down there too but there is some leakage. If we turn off the a/c upstairs gets too hot. I was watching tv down there but had to go outside to warm up.
I tried searching for anything on Johnboy with the name Garry supplied but drew a blank. Guess we may never know.
I have travelled extensively all over the provinces from Vancouver Is. to Quebec and also the nothern half of New Bruswick and Nova Scotia in all seasons so I can offer commentary but no photos. It was work related as my company supplied many hardware and variety stores in small towns. Not sure if that would add much to July's Diner adventures.
Going in now as the sun has set and the mosquitoes are out.

I just got another note from Ulrich. He has hit a snag with the new house. His building permit was denied by somebody in the local planning office because they claimed it didn't meet the code. Ulrich's architect has assured him that the plan is within the code tolerances, but it's going to take a while sort that out. He won't be moving in this fall. He hopes to be in the new house by spring.
There may be a silver lining in this cloud. Lumber prices are expected to decline by early next year so his costs could go down by a lot.

Me, and everyone else I know in Florida, has been pronouncing it incorrectly.
I have never heard anyone say "Ar-Inj", it just sounds weird. Just saying "Ornj" is good, but I guess not good enough.

Good afternoon all. We have returned to perfect weather, a beautiful sunny 24c.
I got back to cranking the peddles along with doing some other things in the workout dept. Knocked off a quick 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups and 100 scissor kicks. I started doing push-ups where you lower right down on your chest, lift your hands between each one. Those take a little getting used to. They also take longer to do. I am feelin gooooood!
It is too bad about Pastor Bob, I picked this up on an old post of his. It tells us a wee bit about the man.
I also agree that operations are most important to enjoying a model railroad and trying to mimic the real thing. I grew up in a railroad family, my dad had 50 years of engine service with Santa Fe in Oklahoma, and I worked summers at Enid and other locations as a clerk in the yard offices during the harvest season as Enid was a major grain elevator town and the "wheat rush" brought extra trains in and out like crazy, while going to college. In Aug. I would resign and go back to school, did that for 6 years until I had my masters and was ready to face the world. Great experience. Unfortunately I model the Enid district and the mainline between Arkansas City and Oklahoma City in 1989 and railroad operations really changed between the 50's and 80's. But it was a great experience and time.
I eventually went to Topeka and the Santa Fe GOB after college for 10 years, they taught me computers and IBM and I finally left in 1970 to take a computer position in Kansas City with the Federal Reserve Bank (no trains there). From there I took my degrees in religion and was ordained as a Baptist pastor. No trains there either. When I finally retired from all of it at age 60, I was able to get back into model railroading in a big way and have stayed that way.
So today I model ATSF in 1989 in Oklahoma, include the BN in that mix along with a freelance short line, the Oklahoma Northern and enjoy modeling very much. But I still come back to the fact all I learned with the railroad is out of date for the era I model. So the learning process goes on.

It is Canada Day tomorrow and with restrictions lifted we are going to my sisters for dinner. Snoozefest doesn't begin to describe that. I love my sister dearly but............. My son, daughter, and I usually find a quiet corner to have a good conversation in. Hopefully, there will be others there, it makes it easier to hide.

Check out those skinny arms, mine were the same at that age, they are still skinny but the muscle content of them goes up and down depending on how much working out with weights I do. One thing about working out with weights, muscles disappear shortly after you stop.
Charlie, I think Johnboy worked for Greyhound, maybe a cross-reference in your search would turn something up.
Time for my usual Eggs, tomatoes, onion and cheese grub.
Montreal and Tampa tonight, I burned about 1800 calories working out today so that means a LAAAAARGE Pina Colada for the game. I think Tampa in five, but I hope it goes seven. Game sevens are the best.

He tells me your weather appears to be much more comfortable than what we have around here at the moment (although a lot cooler than what western Canada has been having!). Looks like it may be a while before I get over to visit them. Was hoping to go over in August but now that will be postponed until later on.
Just put a new sims card in my iPhone to transfer to the new 5G network my company has me on now. Everything appears to be working, so I am happy.

Kevin - When I think "AT&SF" and "1980's", I would say the middle version - Blue & Yellow. That was "SantaFe" in the 80's. I concur, add it onto the RIP track.
Garage Furnace - Hanging from the celing, he is piping for the propane line now.
Speaking of Propane - The outside tank has been placed, it will handle both the garage and the whole house furnace, once everything is completed. My dog, Dozer, is NOT happy there is this big white blob in HIS yard, and has growled and barked (yelled) at it....
I will catch up with the rest later on.

I continue to go through the boxes of old photos I received, and I found another picture of STRATTON AND GILLETTE layout number 1.
I am guessing this is from 1983 because the Nn3 mining track has not been added, but I look older than 15, so maybe I removed the Nn3 track for some reason.
I also have found this picture of an N scale STRATTON AND GILLETTE 50 foot boxcar with my "The New Reliable" slogan and arched lettering.

CN Charlie ... I recall John Boy's.name was something like John Callum . Not sure about spelling. I did not find him when I looked in internet. I think he has a son in or near Billings Montana. If I recall correctly, John did shop for model trains at a hobby shop in Billings.

I didn't know Pastor Bob but still sad. Wish I knew what happened to John Boy. I have looked in Regina's paper but as I am uncertain of his real name it is a slow process. He had throat cancer a few years ago.
Yard work today according to the Person in Charge. Back yard grass repair is planned. Not a big area to do as only about a quarter of the yard is grass.
Still looking at ebay but I find that most items I initally fancy after a few days of reflection I no longer desire.
The heat wave is supposed to hit over the weekend and get to 99F on Sat. We do get such temps on occasion.
