I really hope that train shows will resume in Ontario, at least by 2022. My old club relies on its annual February train show and sale to pay the rent. If they can't hold a show next year their bank account will be pretty much dry, and I doubt that the members will be willing or able to cough up the rent money themselves.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Good to hear from you Jim and congrats on scoring the Ullrich kits.

Work has begun to put on Trainfest in Milwaukee this November, the big unknowns being 1) will the local health authorities impose such limitations on attendance (25% of the capacity of the hall for example) that no matter how we crunch the numbers it is not economic for our NMRA Division to put on the show, 2) the willingness of vendors, manufacturers and layouts to commit to attend and 3) the ability to adequately staff with volunteers given the older age of our volunteer corps.

I think there is a pretty good chance Trainfest will happen but it might not exactly be like Trainfests of the past.  One example is that we want wider aisles - the traditional crush of crowds where you quite literally could not make any sudden movement in any direction, is not where we want to be this particular year, or perhaps ever again.  Some layouts do not find it easy to shrink in size for show purposes -- others could but would prefer not to.

The 1st train thing I have been to in over a year.  I had a great time seeing old friends,  and I picked up some Ulrich GS gondola kits.

I am looking very forward to train shows again.

It is only a few weeks now before I can creep outside my house again.

Train shows are near the top of my to-do list.

Good for you!!  'Bout time we started to enjoy living again.

There's a large train show in Vancouver, BC, most years, in the fall.  I expect that it will be a go, but a lot depends on our 'herd immunity' by then and how well the various vaccines are doing against variants, both old and new.

On Saturday I attended the Prairie Lakes Division show on Sibley, IA.  The 1st train thing I have been to in over a year.  I had a great time seeing old friends,  and I picked up some Ulrich GS gondola kits.
