Finally! A reply from Walthers. They are actually going to send me a decorated body shell for the chassis that I have! Its a miracle. Lol

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to put a scaletrains sd 70mac body shell on the chassis but wasnt sure about fitment. There are 3d printed bodies scarcely available but more sd70u, sd70mac and the like are out there. Ill keep looking for sd70ace shells from athearn genesis, scaletrains etc. Walthers should carry shells for their own product but, like I said in op, they dont reply very often and a lot of stuff is "out of stock". Im not in a rush for it so, not a big deal.

Thanks again for the info

I would think that any shell made by any better manufacturer should fit your chassis, the length of the real thing is 70’ 8”.  They will obviously need some mods for mounting and lighting but I wouldn’t hesitate trying any of the big name manufacturers shells.

Unless a manufacturer doesn’t keep their model to scale you should be able to sorta kitbash any shell to any like chassis.

I’m into E7s and so far any E7 shell has worked on any E7, E8 or E9 chassis with very small mods.

With enough modification, any brand shell should be able to fit.

Hard part will be finding just the shell by itself.

Ok. Heres my situation.

I have a Walthers sd70ace chassis that I purchased with the intention of just buyinv a shell to put on it. Yeah!! Fat chance!

Guess what I cant find? Thats right, a, Walthers mainline HO scale body shell. From anywhere. Walthers parts section is a dismal failure, 90% of the catalog items you look for are discontinued or out of stock. What Id like to know is--what other body shells will fit this chassis? Athearn Genesis? Scaletrains? Or maybe someone else??

Any help would be great

Thanks
