anyone have experience with this model? when i throttle up the motor "slips" as if in neutral. also when observing the weels only one of the six axles seems to drive the loco. this is the second rs that acts this way.

Jonn, have you taken off the shell and checked the driveline connections? The problem could be the u joint connection between the flywheel and bearing block. First I would remove the trucks also to see if they roll freely, you do not have to take the frame halfs apart to do this, just loosen both frame screws a couple of turns and the trucks should wiggle right out. If either truck does not roll freely, it could be a gear alignment problem or something lodged in one of the gears. Next see if you can turn the flywheels or the worm gear by hand, if not remove the wormgear on one side then the other. To do this you may have to open up the split frame, if you like, go to YouTube and look up Watch Trains Here to see how it's done. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, take it to a hobbyshop or a fellow N scaler with experience that can do this for you. I don't know how much experience you have disassembling N scale locomotives, if so these are the places I would start.

Hope this helps,

Ralph

You are welcome John! Please let me know how it turns out.

PS; If you need parts, you can call and order direct from Atlas, they have an excellent service and parts department and have always shipped pretty fast.
