Oops, my bad for not mentioning this one, and Rail Pictures.net.
I've spent a lot of time on both and found thousands of amazing photos for my personal screensaver/wallpaper.

Railimages is a part of Trainboard. They are nominally a free service, but they do ask for contributions. I did that while I was working, but stopped when I retired. Trainboard is a forum like this one.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Thought I would pick the collective brain on what good photo sources I may be missing.
I've hit many of the usual suspects already: Flickr, Tumblr, Flickriver (Flickr but more user friendly), Shorpy, various historical societies and associations, public libraries, rail museums, Pinterest, Google Images, Life magazine archives...
Am I missing any obvious photo resources for railroads? There are many individual web sites run by fans of various railroads. Many of them I have already bookmarked. I always have this nagging feeling that I'm missing something obvious..
