Here's one I've been working on for close to a year now! After seeing this kit in their catalog, I just couldn't resist getting one. It was a lot of work to build this and make it look just right, but it was worth it!
For the build this time, I thought I'd try doing it montage style and in 4K. I ended up having to edit over 200 clips and almost 2 hours of footage into a single condensed video. I think it turned out well, but I'm not going to do that again!
And I also put together a quick review video for you all.

Hi Darth,
Interesting locomotive! Nice build job! The videos are great, as usual.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Hi Darth. A lovely looking locomotive. Well done.
Here is a picture of mine 'in service'.

One Word: Spectacular!!
Thanks so much for posting this. I've been intrigued by DJH kits and wouldn't mind trying one of the US prototype model one day.

Yet anothr amazing build! What a fine piece of machinery. The mechanism looks daunting, but leave it to th master! Dan
An incredible build! I would have been driven crazy by the lining decals but it looks masterfully done.

Thank everyone!
NorthBrit, is that one of the Hornby models? I was tempted to get one of those, but decided I'd rather build it myself.
cats think well of me, if you can find one of those US models, I'm sure it'll make an excellent model for you. Just remember to take your time! I explain more details of the build process in my 0-4-4T video, and "The Loco Builder" also has some great videos on building DJH kits.
Southgate 2, the mechanism actually fits together very well, and isn't too difficult to assemble as long as you know how to use a soldering iron. It's certainly easier to make one of these run smooth than it was to build the Arbour 2-8-4!
micktropolis, I accidentally destroyed half the first set of lining and had to order a second set (and Fox's decals aren't cheap either). It took a few months to work up the determination to try again, but it was worth it!
Darth Santa Fe Thank everyone! NorthBrit, is that one of the Hornby models? I was tempted to get one of those, but decided I'd rather build it myself.
Yes it is a Hornby locomotive. I bought it of a friend who had it in a cabinet and never ran it. A service and it runs beautifully. 'Just like new'.

Worth it indeed! The nose too where they all come together, fantasic work. My first love may be big UP steam, but I have a great interest in English steam. The colors and names and history, I'm happy to see that here.
I'd love to get a DJH kit at some point, they look like a lot of fun. But for now, I'll just continue adding things to the shopping cart on Hattons...
