I just wanted to share this photo of Santa Fe's Blue Goose. How does it look?

Looks great.   Print it on that metalic glass and it would be fantastic.    It is high enough resolution to blow up to poster size?

@TheFlyingScottsmn, indeed, I actually used a photo from Brass trains on a similar Hallmark Super crown for reference colors when colorizing this. I would love to own one some day, but theyre crazy expensive and rare. 

Id also prefer the one from PSC as it has the streamline shroud arong the pistons. 

Yes, those are flag holders in the front. I think AHM used flag holders from their NKP Berk as the ATSF ones are much shorter(and not black), as seen in the colorized photo.

...Does anyone know what the two vertical black pipes on the pilot of the Rivarossi version are...

They look like flag holders, for displaying, during daytime, the class of the train.  White flags for an extra, I think, and green ones for a train with additional sections following.
It's difficult to tell for certain, but it looks as if there are also class lights on the shrouding near the stack, but without either jewels, working lights, or painted-on ones.

Although all isn't lost yet because I notice someone sold one for 219.99 on the 23rd of Jan which didn't have the little black poles but seemed to be photographed in a very similar location to the one you have up now..............

It seems to me that when I got back into model railroading in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Blue Goose was a lot more popular among modelers than it is today. It was not that unusual to see pictures of them in the hobby magazines. Now I can't remember the last time I saw a featured layout that has the Blue Goose.

I have the Rivarossi version and about five of their generic passenger cars in Blue Goose colors which I later learned never existed. The Santa Fe never painted any passenger cars in Blue Goose colors. I'm thinking about selling my Goose because it doesn't fit with my current layout locale and the pizza cutter flanges on the driver wheels don't work well on code 83 track. Asking price on ebay is $150 and up but all either have 0 bids or are Bye It Now. Doesn't look like it's in high demand.

PS Does anyone know what the two vertical black pipes on the pilot of the Rivarossi version are. The ones on mine got knocked off a long time ago and I've never seen a photo of the prototype that had these. See below:

Looks great I think. There are a few Blue Goose pics out there that are colourised, which oddly enough I was looking at this morning. Were they your handywork too?

Blue Goose was never a locomotive I was particularily interested in until I was lazily looking at a youtube site called allbrassbackshop and I saw a Hallmark deskirted one that looked unbelievable. Now I am hooked!
