Rapido ad on the inside front cover of March MRR.

I'm checking out Rapido's ad for the E8's, and down near the bottom, a little note that says: "Psst! Check out the back cover for a very special E8".

The back cover is a Bachmann ad, the inside back cover is a Kato ad. Surprise

What is Jason trying to do?! I want to see "a very special E8" !  Laugh

I would assume that in another magazine, Rapido ran the same ad, but also had their ad on the rear cover.

Maybe the incorrect ad copy was accidentally sent to Model Railroader in error.

I went to their web site, and yes, it is, as far as I can tell.

By going to their web site, I'm sure I did just what Rapido wanted me to do! Laugh

The exact same "see the back cover" ad is on the back cover of the Feb 2021 RMC?? I'm guessing Rapido mixed up the copy, sent the wrong ad to the wrong magazine or something.

That E isn't new.     That has been out for a while just not fully published.     This is the third run I do believe.   The first completely sold In days forcing them to add on with them being sold as well.   Mostly to Amtrak employees

I just had to search around and see if Amtrak really did have black E's, and found this:

No, this is for the FIRST run and they are still taking pre-orders.  They accepted MORE pre-orders for what was originally an Amtrak run of just 500 of the special unit, but demand was overwhelming so they extended the pre-order period for those units.  I'm pretty sure it is now closed again, but obviously some dealers will have them once they arrive.

Yes  I liked the pdf, shows all of the schemes through the years, for those that model specific Amtrak periods.

These are interesting, too:

https://history.amtrak.com/amtraks-history/historic-timeline

https://trn.trains.com/railroads/2016/08/early-amtrak-trains-in-color

USA Today had a nice look back at early locomotives, too, but their webpage required removing adblock and had too much "noise".
