Hi all,
I elected to give Flickr another try and it's much better compared to my efforts in 2012. I've only uploaded a handful of train pictures on there, but here are some photos from one project. Not long ago, a friend had an Oriental Limited PRR X40b boxcar in the original Merchandise Service paint scheme for sale, so I bought it and upgraded to Sergent couplers, and I have Kadee ASF Ride control trucks put on. It soon became apparent that one of the stirrups had bit the dust long ago and way back, before my friend got it, someone put on an A-Line stirrup which aside not matching wasn't glued on well so upon seeing no one offered a brass or even Delrin or Acetal replacement I elected to make my own using Detail Associates flat brass wire.
Same model but with the Kadee trucks added. The paint I used is my last bit of Pollyscale Zinc Chromate primer. A pretty good match for PRR freight car color. The Kadee trucks roll SOOO much better than the brass ones. The wheels are Tangent Code-88 wheels.
A painted stirrup.
Looks like some excellent work!
