I have a Fleischmann starter set I run with the 220v transformer that I got while in Germany. I would like to know where I can get engines to run with that transformer. I want to avoid US spec engines so I don't fry them.
Any information and websites / links are greatly appreciated.

What's the output voltage of the transformer? Are you sure they aren't 12v engines?

All my Fleischmann engines run on the same track and the same transformer as all my USA HO models. Older Fleischmann have deep flanges, but they have always worked on 12v DC.

So any HO scale 12V DC, 2 rail engine should work. Where are you located? Is there a reason why you would use a 220V power source?

Current Fleischmann DC trains run on the same 12V DC that US model trains run on. You cna use say an MRC power pack to runt he Fleischmann trains no problem, if you relocate to the US, instead of using a 220V converter witht eh German power pack. 220V is just the INPUT voltage.
Their older stuff they sold here was all stadnardly compatible with any other HO trains. The current product line seems to be all N scale.
Besides Fleischmann, Trix and Roco make European outline equipment that will run fine on the Fleischmann layout. Few if any European style locos and rolling stock are made by any US companies.

Randy is correct, the 220vt is the common household voltage in Europe, just as 120vt is standard in the USA. My Marklin trains can come with a 220vt or a 120vt transformer depending on what country they are sold in. But the power that comes out of either transformer is the same in regards to what the trains themselves need. Many of my Marklin engines were gotten as gifts by my aunt and uncle on their trips to Germany. But they run fine here in the USA. Mike the Aspie
