I have been using Imgur since I joined this group almost four years ago.
There have not had any problems.
I am looking forward to your layout build... I am excited to start mine soon.

Flickr here. No issues so far.

When Photo Bucket did their thing I tried Google Photos and it only worked for members that had Google Accounts. I had posted pictures from my Google Blog several times that seemed to work OK so I made a special page for hosting my pictures and that has worked out very good for me. I ended up with four dedicated pages for hosting my pictures. I have four pages that consist of four categories that make finding subject matter easier. The page that works the best for me is my Temp Host Page where I remove the pictures that I don’t intend to repost in the future. Imgur sharing a pic is quicker using the BBCode and a simple copy and paste into the text of you thread

I use Flickr and Photo Bucket. PB has done some major rearranging, and it works great.
I opened the Flickr account when PB was in a mess.

How do you post Flicker photos? Thanks.
I clicked on a little box that is on your post, and your Flickr picture opened,
After you have opened a Flickr account, and stored some pictures, log in, and go to your "Photostream".
Click on the picture you want to post.
When it opens, on the bottom, click on the little arrow that points to the righ, for "Share".
When the next screen opens, click on "BBCode", and copy.
Go back to your post in here, and paste, no need to click on the photo icon in the tool bar.
A bunch of computer code stuff will show, but when you click on "Submit your reply", the picture is there.

Thanks, new process for me. I did not see those boxes when I posted.
Since the boxes are there, my holiday photo shows the goal was some scenery Easter eggs hidden in the hills on my N scale Virginian 2.0.
Here's a few "visual aids" to support Mike's reply:
MR_Photo1 by Edmund, on Flickr
Then this menu opens:
MR_Photo2 by Edmund, on Flickr
Use your favorite method (Ctrl+C) or right-click the mouse and select copy.
Go back to your M-R forum reply box and click (Ctrl+V) or paste. This is an example of what you'll see in the text: {don't use the "mountain" photo icon in the M-R reply menu}
MR_Photo3 by Edmund, on Flickr
You will not see your photo until you submit your reply. Of course the edit option is always there to fix things up a little if your reply doesn't look exactly right.
Kalmbach has a separate site for doing forum experiments so the regular threads don't get clogged with "bad" photo links.
While attempting to insert a link to it here I keep getting a 403 FORBIDDEN warning!
Good Luck, Ed
mbinsewi...PB has done some major rearranging, and it works great....
I'm still with photobucket, too, but in my opinion, it's a mess compared to the original.
My albums have multiple duplicates of the photos I've placed there, so an album which originally had 600 photos in it, now has 1200/1800 photos. With 50-or-so albums, that's a lot of photos to scroll through searching for the ones I might want to place here. And, once I find that photo, and want to also include another view that was the next available picture, I have to scroll, again from the beginning, all the way down to find that photo.
The albums are no longer in alphabetical order, either, so every visit is a hunting expedition.
My account renews in August, and unless things revert to the original format, I won't be renewing it. Posting a well illustrated how-to used to be possible in 15 or 20 minutes, while a similar operation with the new set-up takes at least two hours.
I stayed with photobucket through the price change debacle because they offered me a very good rate due to my long tenure there. I am aware that there are some here who aren't overly fond of scads of photos, so for those folks, just be patient, as I'll likely be dropping out early in August. Wayne

Hi Wayne,
Do you mean dropping out of Photobucket or dropping out of the forums? I certainly hope that it is not the later! The forums would suffer significantly if you were to drop out.
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Dave, without pictures, I wouldn't have much to offer. I think that the Forums will do fine, but thanks for your generous remarks.

This forum is filled with newbies who come and go, guys who post 30 or 40 times a day just to bloat post count, a few spreaders of misinformation, and a lot of folks depending upon the expertise of others like you to improve their skills and solve their problems.
You ain't going nowhere, pal. And who are these members who are opposed to your "scads of photos"?

Rich, I certainly wouldn't call-out anyone for not enjoying the pictures I share, as everyone has their own take on things. And of course, sometimes I do get carried away with perhaps a few too many photos.
doctorwayneAnd of course, sometimes I do get carried away with perhaps a few too many photos.
Never!!
Wayne, you are free to do as you wish, as we all are. However, I wonder if you underestimate the influence that you have on other modellers. It may be as simple as someone deciding to add a few more details to a car or doing a better job with decals. Or it may mean encouraging others to scratchbuild or kitbash a larger structure instead of just sticking with the basic kit.
I know personally that when I am working on a model I always have the same question lingering in the back of my mind: "What would Wayne do?". I will confess that I rarely if ever achieve your level of modelling, but your influence is always there none the less.
Having said that, I don't wish to pressure you to do anything that you don't want to do. If you wish to step back that is your choice. You will still have left an incredible legacy!
Cheers!!

I don't have nearly as many photos and albums in PB as you do, Wayne. I did notice some duplicates, and things seem to be in groups, but for me, it seems easier to post pictures.
I think my account renews in March? I'll see what happens.
I have been putting my more recent pictures in Flickr.
Tell me your not leaving here Wayne!
Will you still be in BBlue?
LastspikemikeYou significantly underestimate your value to this site. Remember there are many viewers who access this information but don't join in. There are rumours of changes coming to this site. One hopes that simple posting of internal links and adding attachments will form part of a much needed overhaul. Your posts will continue to deliver value even without your photos although I will miss the full inspirational force if you cease posting them.
This is the first post Mike has made that everyone agrees with.
I have my own website, so I just link to the photos there. It's very simple.

WayneBlogger works great for me, it’s a freebee and it has a lot of built in tools so no need to learn HTML.One neat feature is you don’t need to leave your pictures on your blog like on a hosting service. When I remove a picture from my blog the Forum pictures don’t go away.I also think you could help other model railroaders with a blog. I’m not even close to being as good at helping people as you are nor as talented and I get a couple thousand hits a month on my blog.Mel My Model Railroad http://melvineperry.blogspot.com/ Bakersfield, California I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

Since I have a web site to post layout information, I just put my pictures there, like Mark does. I was completely unaffected by Photobucket's changes, and will remain unaffected if one of the other photo hosts decides to play the same game.

Thanks guys for all the great information.
I went to Flickr after the Photobucket debacle. Just one thing to note, the BBcode link works fine as long as you use only the part after and including the "https" up to and including the file type such as ".jpg". Using the whole BBcode, at least in my experience, will not allow the image to be posted, in this or any other forum I frequent. You results may vary.
