And then there are trojan overlays in which a legitimate email has an overlay with a clickable link that has the virus.

Hover your cursor over the link. If it doesn't show going back to Kalmbach or Trains.com don't click.

But, even that isn't foolproof. It is common for support services and promotional materials to be farmed out. Heck, the link to subscribe is a redirect to drgnetwork.com

I'd try a brief email to ffinfrock@kalmbach.com and see if you get a response from someone with a confirmed kalmbach.com address.

Do not click!!!

Send an email to customer service at MR and inquire.  You should have an answer pretty quickly.

This year's Walthers catalog has one of my photos published.  I recall sending in two or three samples for consideration, but then months went by.  Suddenly, one day, I get an email saying sorry for the delay, my prize would be sent out very soon.  Huh?  I didn't buy it because it sounded like the typical phishing email.  But, I got another saying it had shipped.  I contacted Walthers separately to inquire, and I don't believe I ever got an answer.  But within days I had the package with a copy of the catalog and a small prize.  Go figure.

Unless you can verify with a phone call or email message that YOU initiate, I'd be cautious.

Got an e-mail that said I had won a prise in their sweepstakes from a faith finfrock for a digital subscription to trains.com. Don't know if this is legit, I did enter a sweepstakes way back when.

What does the email say about how to claim your prize? Do you have to click on a link?

Did you check the email address from where the message came from?  Does it look like a lagit Kalmbach address?

Faith Finfrock is the digital marketing coordinator at Kalmach, according to a search I did.

(link didn't work)  Google her name, and you'll see it.
