Bachmann On30 tank cars

I want to decal a couple of painted but undecorated Bachmann On30 tank cars, but the ladders block the sides of the cars.  Is there a trick to taking the ladders off (without breaking them of course) or is it simply a matter of applying steady pressure against them?

I haven't had one of those in years, but aren't they screwed on?  I seem to remember that they were.

I  didn't see any screws to take off.  Still trying to figure out how to take the ladders off so i can decal them

Any one figured out how to take the ladders off the tank cars?

I looked at mine under magnification and the ladders appear to be glued in.  I also gently tugged at them and they were solidly attached.

I think you have to work around them or get new ladders.
